How To Measure Bolt Pattern On 5 Lug Wheel
Trailer wheel bolt patterns can be defined by the number of bolts or lugs per wheel and the diameter of the circle that the bolts are arranged on. A 'pcd' of 4/114.3 means the wheel is four stud with a pitch circle diameter of 114.3mm.

Hence a 'pcd' of 5/120 means that the wheel has five studs, and a pitch circle diameter of 120mm.
How to measure bolt pattern on 5 lug wheel. 3 1/4 center to center = 5 x 5.5 bolt pattern. If you don’t have the template handy, you measure from the center of any hole, skip a hole in either direction and then measure to the outside edge of that hole. Use a ruler, or tape measure that shows 32 nd ’s of an inch.
Next, you'll measure how many inches apart the bolt holes are. This is the way to measure the bolt pattern on your vehicle if it is not a 5 lug (so 4 lug, 6 lug and 8 lug all need to be measured this way): Wheel bolt pattern is the measured diameter of an imaginary circle formed by the centers of the wheel studs or bolt holes.
To find your bolt pattern, measure the distance as accurately as possible and then find the corresponding bolt pattern in the conversion table below. For example, if you have a 5 lug wheel and your measurement is 5″ then your bolt pattern is 5 x 5″ (5 x 127mm). If your wheel has 5 bolts, or another odd number of bolts, measure from the very top of 1 lug nut to the center of the bolt that is directly across from it in order to find the diameter.
Measuring the pcd of a 5 stud wheel is a tricky business. An example would be a 4 x 100 and 5 x 100 bolt pattern. For 5 lug wheels its only slightly more complicated then the 4, 6, or 8 lug measurement.
A common measurement for a 5 bolt pattern is 120 millimetres (4.7 in) from the top of 1 lug to the center of another. Measure the bolt pattern from the back of one lug to the center of one of the lugs on the other side (not the one right next to it!) Typically this will be 4, 5, 6, or 8.
For a 4 lug wheel, measure center to center of two holes directly across from each other. Bolt circles are measured in both inches and millimeters, therefore you may hear a bolt pattern referred to as both (i.e. Choose any lug bolt and measure the distance between the back of one lug to the center of another that is directly across from it.
The easiest way to estimate the 5 lug bolt pattern, is to measure from the back of a hole to the center of the second hole. Most trailers on the road have a 4, 5 or 6 lug pattern. Figuring out the right bolt pattern is rather simple, but it is extremely important that the measurements are accurate.
The bolt pattern is 5 x 5: Now that you know how to measure lug bolt patterns, here is a simple little tool to keep in your shop. A bolt pattern is simply the diameter of the bolt circle.
5×114.3 mm is also referred to as 5×4.5). For accurate estimation, you need a wheel pattern gauge. There's an easy way to measure and be sure though.
A wheel's pcd is usually displayed after the number of studs, separated by a slash. These two steps together will give you your bolt hole pattern. Now, start at the outer wall of the bolt hole and measure all the way to the center of the other bolt hole.
Common bolt patterns have 4, 5, 6, or 8 lug holes, while less common have 3, 7, or 10 lug bolt patterns. In this case the ruler is not across the center of the wheel and you measure from the edge of one to the center of the other. Alternate 5 lug bolt pattern measurement.
Vernier caliper set on 25.4 mm which equals to 1 inch. A bolt circle of 5×114.3 mm would indicate a 5 lug pattern on a circle with a diameter of 114.3mm (or 4.5). You can measure the distance in either direction
If your trailer wheel hubs have 5 lug bolts, measuring is slightly different. If you need the 4, 6 or 9 lug page look here how to measure 4, 6 or 8 lug wheel bolt pattern if you want a more accurate approach check out the wheel bolt circle calculators You need to measure from the center of one lug to the center of the lug nearest to it.
In the same way we may calculate the following bolt pattern in inches, 5×5, to metric, which will be 5 times 25.4 = 127 (bolt pattern = 5×127). The measurement of a 5 lug bolt pattern is a bit difficult. Interchangeable wheel / bolt pattern chart for cars, trucks, vans, suvs, motorhomes, rvs, atvs, utvs and trailers
Select 2 bolts that have a 1 bolt spacing on either side. That should get you your bolt pattern measurement. How to measure bolt pattern.
Learn more about wheel dimensions. You can also determine your 5 bolt pattern by measuring the distance between the center of one bolt hole, to the center of the bolt hole next to it. For example, a bolt pattern in metric, let's say 5×114.3, is equal to 5×4.5 in inches, because 114.3 divided with 25.4 = 4.5, easy, don't you agree?
Measure 5 lug wheel bolt patterns from the outside edge to center distance between two studs that are across the hub from each other. Since the lug holes are not exactly across each other, the measurement is different. The first concept one must be familiar with to understand bolt patterns is called bcd, for bolt circle diameter.if you lay one of your wheels on the ground and draw a circle that passes through the center of each of the lug holes, that is the bolt circle, and it only remains to measure the diameter of said circle.
You measure from the back of one lug (skip to next lug as shown) and to the center of that lug. Remove the existing wheel (the rear wheel is usually the easiest to measure because the hub normally won’t be in the way). This measurement is your bolt pattern diameter.
Be sure that you skip one bolt when measuring.
