World-class sporting event to bring glamorous economic boost
A sport known for its glitz and glamor will give an economic boost to the Sunshine Coast, with visitors expected to flock to the ‘world-class event’.
Part of the largest and most successful polo series in the world, Polo By The Sea will make its long-awaited debut on the Sunshine Coast with all the glitz and glamor the sport has to offer.
With 30 percent of attendees historically coming from outside the local government area, the event will boost the lodging, retail, hospitality and transportation industries.
Brady Sullivan, Chief Executive Officer of the Caloundra Chamber, said the prestigious event would be a significant generator of economic benefits and a great social event.
“Providing exciting activities like Polo By The Sea is vital to branding our region to ensure we are competitive when it comes to attracting a younger workforce,” he said.
Coastline BMW Polo By The Sea takes place along the Maroochy River and uses a variation of the sport of polo under the guise of urban polo to make the match faster and more exciting for guests.
All guests are guaranteed to be close to the action and enjoy award-winning entertainment and hospitality at the interactive event.
Events Queensland Events Director Matthew Turich said the Sunshine Coast is a unique, diverse and thriving destination for the events and tourism industry.
“The Sunshine Coast has always been a great place for locals and tourists. It has everything from scenic beaches to stunning hinterland, as well as a booming hospitality scene, and we’re thrilled to bring our event to the area to be part of that community,” he said.
“We look forward to partnering with Coastline BMW, the Sunshine Coast Council, business and the wider community to host a world-class event that offers social engagement, economic stimulus and showcases the best the region has to offer wide audience.”
Supplied by Events Queensland in partnership with the Urban Polo Association, the Coastline BMW Polo By The Sea Sunshine Coast is part of a series that includes events on the Gold Coast and Palm Beach, with a number of additional locations planned for 2023.
