How to Easily Track Your Favorite Sports and Shows in Outlook

Ever wanted a more efficient way to keep track of your favorite sports team or remind yourself when the next episode of your favorite TV show is on? Now Microsoft Outlook has an easy way to help you.

Adding sports and TV programs to your Outlook calendar list is easy. All you have to do is create a new calendar in Outlook on the web.

How to create a new calendar in Outlook

Creating a new calendar in Outlook takes just a few steps.

  1. First, open Outlook in your browser.
  2. Then, from the toolbar on the left side of your screen, select the calendar icon (which is just below the email icon).
  3. Select on the calendar screen Add calendar, which should be available to the left of your open calendar. This screen offers a few different options. For example, you can add a blank calendar by choosing Create an empty calendargiving you a fresh calendar with no pre-added events like holidays in your calendar.

You can also add colors and icons to your calendars from this screen, allowing you to further organize your calendars.

You can follow the same steps in the Outlook desktop or mobile apps, although the interface looks slightly different. (And if you’re using the Outlook mobile app, you can sync your Outlook calendar to your iPhone.)

How to add professional sports team schedules to your Outlook calendar

Although the sporting events are available at your fingertips, it helps to organize them on a calendar. Automatically set up the events in an Outlook calendar using Microsoft.

  1. To add sports team schedules, click Add calendar button to the left of your open calendar. Then click in the box that opens Sports.
  2. Outlook will suggest some teams to add to your calendar based on location. If you’d like to add one of these teams’ schedules to your Outlook calendars, check the box to the left of the team’s name. This creates a new calendar with the team’s schedule.
  3. If you want to add a schedule from a team that isn’t auto-suggested, go to the bottom of the screen. Outlook offers options from America’s major sports leagues, but you can add team schedules from a variety of sports. To do this, click on Sports at the bottom of the screen.
  4. On the new screen, click on the sport you want to add to your calendar. You then have the option to select a specific league of that sport to narrow down the available team options. For example, if you select basketball, you can select NBA, WNBA, men’s NCAA league, or women’s NCAA league.
  5. After selecting a league, Outlook will show you a list of all the teams in the league, which you can then add to your Outlook calendar list.

Not only can you add all scheduled games to your Outlook calendar, you can also see the results of previously scheduled team events.

How to add TV show schedules to your Outlook calendar

Outlook can help you keep track of the variety of TV shows available. Add your favorites to an Outlook calendar to make them part of your daily schedule.

  1. To add TV show schedules, click Add calendar button to the left of your open calendar.
  2. Then select TV in the box that opens. Outlook will prompt you to select one of the seven US time zones. After selecting a time zone, a list of TV channels is displayed.
  3. Once you have selected a network, a list of shows will appear on the screen. Unfortunately, not all programs will be available as Microsoft dictates the list of available programs.

It is important to note that the TV Guide feature is known to have some glitches. So if you’ve followed each step correctly and your show’s schedule still doesn’t appear in your calendar, Outlook is to blame.

Currently, the TV schedule feature is only available for broadcast and cable networks. So if you want to add the latest Netflix release schedule to your calendar, you’ll have to add it manually.

What if the sport or show you want to watch isn’t available?

If Outlook doesn’t offer the sport or show you want to track on your calendar, you can still add it from a third-party source such as For example, a team’s website, an online TV guide, or a calendar sharing app.

According to Microsoft, available calendar options vary by location, so you may not have access to your region’s sports and TV options. Microsoft has confirmed that Sports Calendar is available in English speaking countries, as well as China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, Spain and Brazil. However, television calendars appear to be only available in the United States.

  1. First, take the calendar you want to add to your Outlook calendar and save it as an .ics file.
  2. Then click on the Add calendar Button.
  3. Select on the screen that appears Upload from file (on the left side of the screen).
  4. Choose search to select the .ics file you want to upload, or drag the file directly into the box.
  5. After adding the file, click Import.

In addition to adding professional sports and TV schedules, you can now add anything to your schedule. For example, maybe you need to keep track of your softball team’s games or add the release schedule of your favorite Netflix show.

Importing .ics files into your Outlook calendar list opens up a variety of options.

Juggle all your calendars at once in Outlook

You can view all your calendars on your main Outlook calendar screen. To the left of your calendar, you’ll see a header labeled my calendars with a list of all the calendars you have created.

You can toggle which events appear on your main calendar by checking or unchecking the boxes to the left of the calendar name. From here you can view the squad schedules or the TV shows you’ve added. Now you can follow your favorite teams and shows through Outlook.
