COMMUNIQUE OF THE MEETING OF NFF EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE HELD IN LAGOS – Sporting Life
The Executive Committee of the Nigerian Football Confederation met on Thursday 18th August 2022 at the Best Western Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos to deliberate on important issues in Nigerian football and decided as follows:
1) The Executive Committee commended the Federal Government for the support and encouragement it has always given to the Nigerian Football Association, the various national teams and Nigerian football in general to allow them to thrive and prosper despite some debilitating challenges.
2) After listening to the presentation of the 2nd Vice President/Chairman, LMC On the challenges that beset this year’s AITEO Cup competition, the Board approved the resolutions reached at the NFF’s meeting with owners of clubs that reached the men’s quarter-finals that the competition at this stage and the clubs restarted will be reimbursed for travel expenses for round of 16 matches that did not take place. However, Heartland FC, who defeated Katsina FC in their quarterfinal match in Ilorin, are already in the semifinals. It has been agreed that the competition (men’s version) will be held after the NFF annual general meeting on Thursday 18th Juneth August 2022, with the main objective of offering considerable kilometers to sponsors, AITEO.
3) After a detailed presentation by the head of delegation of the Nigerian team at the 12th Africa Women’s Cup of Nations in Morocco, the Executive Committee directed its Technical and Development Subcommittee to hold a meeting and make recommendations on how to proceed for the senior women’s national team Super Falcons, including but not limited to a thorough assessment of the ability of the coaching teams to guide the team to a remarkable performance at next year’s FIFA World Cup finals in Australia and New Zealand.
4) After solemnly declaring that he would not contest his seat as President at the next NFF Election General Assembly, the Board highly commended the President for his tremendous sacrifices for Nigerian football over the past eight years and wished him every success and progress in his future ventures and activities. The President stated that he was always ready to offer his support, encouragement and wealth of experience to the new President and the Board of Directors.
5) The Executive Committee commended the Falconets U20 women’s national team for their excellent performance at the ongoing FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica, where the team had won all three group stage matches and qualified for the quarter-finals group leaders. He pointed out that the performance, along with the U20 and U17 boys’ triumphs at regional tournaments in the Republic of Niger and Ghana and the U17 girls’ qualification for the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup India 2022, is a sign of the are the current NFF administration’s commitment, vision and investment in youth development.
7) The Board directed the Secretariat to ensure that no stone was left unturned in the preparations ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier between Nigeria and Ghana later this month. The first leg of the final qualification takes place on Sunday, 28th August, while the second leg takes place on Saturday 3 at Abuja’s MKO Abiola Stadiumapprox September.

COMMUNICATION OF THE 77th NIGERIA FOOTBALL FEDERATION GENERAL ASSEMBLY HELD ON THURSDAY 18TH AT THE BEST WESTERN HOTEL, VICTORIA ISLAND, LAGOSth AUGUST 2022
1) The General Assembly expressed the heartfelt appreciation of the entire Nigerian football community to the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces. President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR as an individual and the Federal Government as a body for the continued support and encouragement of the NFF, the various national teams and Nigerian football in general.
2) Congress approved the suspension of the provisions of the NFF Statutes (2010) and the NFF Elections Code (2009) which provide for a specified period between the date of the constitution of the Elections Committee and the conduct of the elections to the NFF Executive Committee. Congress thus passed Friday, March 30th September as the date for the NFF Election Congress 2022.

3) It follows from the foregoing that Congress established the 2022 NFF Electoral Committee and NFF Electoral Appeal Committee as follows:
NFF Election Committee 2022: Aikhunegire Anthony Malik (Chairman); Judge Abdulkadir Zakariyya (Vice-President); Babatunde Ogala – SAN (Member); Daha Umar Daura – Danburam (Member); Gambo Maman (Member). Substitute members: Attorney Ifeanyi Dike; bars Ransom Ariyo
2022 NFF Election Appeals Committee: Lawyer Gandi Umar, mni (Chairman); Ayo Akindele – SAN (Vice-Chairman); Rev. Obioma Onyeaghala (Member). Substitute members: Attorney Chive Kaave; Lawyer Idi Halidu Ali
4) The General Assembly approved Benin City, the capital of Edo State, as the venue for the 2022 NFF Electoral Congress.
5) At the request of the General Assembly, Congress authorized the current NFF Executive Committee to remain in office to complete the 30thth Elections in September 2022 to avoid any kind of vacuum.
6) Congress authorized that all decisions taken at the AGM, in particular the election plan, be promptly transmitted by the NFF Secretary General to FIFA, the world governing body, for approval, endorsement and ratification.
7) The General Assembly thanked the Lagos State Government for their support and encouragement to Nigerian football at all times.
