Carabao Cup 3rd Round draw results: Dates, times, teams and pairings for 2022/23 League Cup

32 teams found out about their fate in the 3rd round of the Carabao Cup during the draw on Wednesday 24th August. It was almost a case of Premier League affairs across the board as seven top division teams played the same league opponents with the most high profile draws to see Manchester City draw against Chelsea.

Elsewhere, Steven Gerrard’s battered Aston Villa will travel to Old Trafford to take on Manchester United, while Arsenal are set to take on Brighton at the Emirates.

However, the draw for the round is likely to take place at Anfield, where Liverpool will take on League One side Derby County. Gillingham, from League Two, was rewarded with a trip against League One side Brentford.

All 16 Round 3 matches will take place between Tuesday and Wednesday 8th and 9th November.

Will there be overtime in the 3rd round of the Carabao Cup?

Round 3 will proceed exactly like the previous ones: single-elimination knockout round matches that must produce a winner on the evening.

If the teams are equal after 90 minutes, it goes directly to penalties in the 3rd round. Overtime only comes into play in the semifinals with two legs. If the clubs there are tied at the end of the semi-final second leg, they play 30 minutes of overtime. If there is no winner after extra time, a penalty shoot-out will decide the semi-final winner.

The tournament final at Wembley Stadium will also include overtime and penalties where appropriate. Both came into play during the Liverpool vs. Chelsea final in the most recent edition, where the goalkeepers gave an attempt in a memorable penalty shoot-out when the penalty shoot-out ended 11-10 in Liverpool’s favour.
