How to Complete Sails of the Shipstealer in Destiny 2

Sails of the Shipstealer in Destiny 2 is a season-long story quest that requires players to complete a variety of objectives each week. You must complete a series of objectives that will be recycled each week in order to complete this quest. If you don’t know where to start, this guide will show you how to complete Sails of the Shipstealer in Destiny 2.

How to complete the Shipstealer’s Sails in Destiny 2?

In order to complete Sails of the Shipstealer, you’ll need to come back at each weekly reset when they can take on the next task for you in Destiny 2. Due to its powerful time gate, you cannot just rush through all 62 steps of this quest. Once you’ve completed a single task, you’ll have to wait until the next weekly reset to take on another one.

Go to your star chart at the HELM to start Sails of the Shipstealer in Destiny 2. The vendor in Season of Plunder gives you the Captain’s Atlas and some of the items you need to continue this quest. From there, there are a few things you need to do to continue the Sails of the Shipstealer quest:

  • How to restore a treasure map in the Captain’s Atlas
  • Expeditions: Loot buried treasure
  • Update the star map
  • Pirate Hideout: Val’Aug the Thug
  • Go to the Eliksni district
  • Wait for Mithrax and Eido to finish studying the relic

How to restore a treasure map in the Captain’s Atlas

In order to restore a treasure map, you must first collect the materials needed before being able to craft it in the Captain’s Atlas. You must acquire 50 Treasure Coordinates from each activity and at least 5 Map Fragments exclusively dropped from Ketchcrash.

Once you’ve gathered the above materials, you can head into the Captain’s Atlas to make yourself a simple treasure map. You can then use this map to loot buried treasure during expedition activities.

Expeditions: Loot buried treasure

Thanks to the treasure map you will know where to find loot. Participate in expedition activities and progress until you near their end. There should be green Eliksni symbols on the ground indicating the location of the buried treasure. There are three buried treasures that can be split for each player on your fireteam.

Update the star map

After looting treasures from Expeditions, you’ll earn Renown, which you can use to upgrade the Star Chart in your HELM. You can get Renown after completing the Seasonal Expedition Challenge, which involved looting the buried treasure.

Pirate Hideout: Val'Aug the Thug

Pirate Hideout: Val’Aug the Thug

Once you’ve updated the star chart, the next step in Sails of the Shipstealer is to fight the weekly boss in pirate lairs similar to the Lost Sectors. In a small area you face off against a boss. After defeating these bosses, you will receive a relic at the end of each hideout.

While the Val’Aug isn’t particularly difficult to defeat, she does have immunity periods that may require you to put in more work to damage her. Luckily, there are plenty of ammo boxes in the area, allowing you to go on the offensive non-stop against Val’Aug and her crew.

Go to the Eliksni district

Once you get the relic of Val’Aug, you need to go to the Eliksni district. You can access this location from your HELM

You may remember the Eliksni from Season of the Splicer. They play a big part in the Sails of the Shipstealer quest. Immediately after you land, you’ll find a holoprojector in front of you, which will leave you with a message from Eido. You will then be given the task of speaking to the spider in the Aether Tank not too far from your location. After talking to the spider, go back to the HELMET and place the relic on the table directly across from the star map.

Wait for Mithrax and Eido to finish studying the relic

You must wait for the next weekly reset before progressing further in the Ship Thief’s Sails quest. Once that reset arrives, you’ll need to do some of the above steps again to continue the quest. This is standard in season-long quests, and Season of Plunder doesn’t seem to do it any differently for Sails of the Shipstealer.
