How to Transfer Apple Music Playlists to Spotify
Switching from Apple Music to Spotify can be scary due to the obvious risk of losing your playlists. It is no secret; It’s a key way music streaming platforms keep you stuck on their platform.
If you find yourself in this predicament, there are ways to transfer music from Apple Music to Spotify so you can finally make the leap. We’ll show you how to do this for a smooth transition.
Requirements for transferring your Apple Music Library to Spotify
Streaming platforms usually don’t offer an official way to export your music playlists, and Apple Music is no exception. To do this, we have to rely on third-party services to help you transfer music from Apple Music to Spotify.
In this guide, we use Tune My Music to move Apple Music playlists to Spotify. Tune My Music is our top choice as it supports many music streaming platforms and is free.
However, there are two mandatory requirements to carry out the process.
Firstly, you must have an active Apple Music subscription. Don’t worry if you let your subscription expire. You can get Apple Music for free and then cancel once you transfer your music playlists. Second, you should activate Sync library at Apple Music. You can check if it’s on or off by opening the Settings app > Music > Sync Library.
Here’s how to transfer your playlists from Apple Music to Spotify
With this in mind, follow the steps below to transfer your Apple Music library to Spotify:
Step 1. Go to Tune My Music and select Let us begin. On the next page, select Apple Music as your music source from the list of available services.
If you haven’t signed in to Apple Music in your browser, a new window will open where you can do so. Choose Sign in to your Apple Music account. Enter your Apple ID and password to verify your identity.
Step 2. Next, grant Tune My Music permission to access your Apple Music library by clicking To allow.
On the next page, Tune My Music will display your Apple Music playlists. By default, the tool selects all playlists and your library tracks, albums, and artists. If you only want to move playlists, uncheck everything else. You can also move all your playlists or just select specific ones to transfer to Spotify.
Step 3. When you are happy with your selection, click choose target.
step 4 click Spotify on the next page and select Agree to give the tool permission to access your account in the new window. You may need to sign in to Spotify if you haven’t already.
Tune My Music displays a summary page detailing your source, destination, and playlists to transfer. If you’re not happy with your selection, you can always go back and add or remove anything you need.
step 5 Start your broadcast by clicking on it Start moving my music.
The website will then show a progress bar. You can view songs and playlists that have already been moved and even those that are missing. In our case, no missing song was found, which means the tool moved all the songs.
If that happens, it doesn’t mean the song isn’t available on Spotify. It may be available, but the metadata is different. In this case, take a look at the affected songs and add them to your Spotify library manually.
step 6 To open your transferred playlist in Spotify, click the opening button next to the playlist name.
A note on Tune My Music
While Tune My Music is free, the tool also has a paid version if you need to bulk transfer more than 500 tracks at a time. If you try to transfer more than 500 tracks in the free version, Tune My Music will only move the first 500 tracks (see screenshot below).
The premium version also lets you automatically sync tracks on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis, which is handy if you want to use two services at the same time. With syncing, you don’t need to transfer music from Spotify to Apple Music when you want to come back next time.
Abandon Apple Music for Spotify without losing playlists
Thanks to third-party music services like Tune My Music, you don’t have to lose your playlists when you switch platforms. If you’ve long wanted or planned to ditch Apple Music for Spotify and only been held back for fear of losing playlists, do it.
