Benefits of email snoozing
When you’re busy with multiple tasks, the last thing you want is a new job to juggle. Sometimes an important email can go unnoticed as you focus on more pressing tasks.
According to the Boehly Center for Excellence in Finance, the average person receives 78 new work emails every day. With so many emails, it’s easy to lose track of important messages.
That’s where the snooze button in Gmail comes in. It reminds you to revisit certain emails in the future. Here are some ways this productivity tip will make your life easier:
- It holds you accountable: When your boss emails you tasks, it’s easy to lose track of important messages. However, this can seriously affect your team’s productivity. You can use the snooze button to remind yourself to read an email you might otherwise have missed.
- It helps you in multitasking: Let’s say you’re working on a big project that’s due today. Suddenly your manager sends you an email with a project that is due tomorrow. You can use the snooze button to send this email to the top of your inbox tomorrow.
- It makes life easier: A cluttered inbox full of tasks is stressful. Use the snooze button to not feel overwhelmed. You can put off less important messages, focus on what’s urgent, and plan reminders for the future.

How to move emails in Gmail
Go to your Gmail inbox on your computer. Next, hover over the email you want to defer. Four icons appear to the right of the message when you hover over it.
On the far right is the snooze button. The logo looks like a clock. Click to ensure you receive the email at a later date.
Once you click on the snooze icon, you will see a new pop-up window. There are three options: morning, Next week or Select date and time.
If you want to be precise, select instead of 8 o’clock as the standard Select date and time.
From there, a new box will appear. It looks like a calendar. Here you can choose exactly when you want this email to appear at the top of your inbox.
It will look like this:
Jump to the next months by clicking the arrow buttons and selecting the day. Or you can save time by typing the date in the text on the right. You can also customize the time you want to see the email. For example, the snooze feature will automatically set emails to remind you at 8am
However, you can always change this at another time. Just click 8:00 am on the right to toggle the time. There are no drop down menus; You must enter the time instead. Beat Save on computer if you have set the reminder when you want to receive it.
