How to Track Stocks with the Stocks App on your iPhone
Your iPhone’s Stocks app provides news, information, charts, and activity on the stocks that interest you.
Apple offers a stocks app on the iPhone to help you monitor and research investments you own or are considering. You can add specific companies to a watchlist by name or symbol, and then get financial and investment news and information, as well as charts showing the stock’s activity. How the stock app works.
How to track stocks with stocks app
The Stocks app comes standard with iOS, so you should already be able to find it on your iPhone. If not, download and install it from the App Store. On the Welcome screen, tap Next.

By default, the app includes a watchlist of the Dow Jones and S&P 500 indices, as well as some individual stocks. But you probably want to edit the watchlist to remove and add specific investments. You can add stock indices, individual stocks, and mutual funds. Tap the ellipses icon at the top and select Edit Watchlist (Figure A).

Edit your watch list
Tap the minus sign next to a stock or index you don’t want to follow, then tap the trash can icon. Repeat this step for other items you want to remove (Figure B).

Next, tap the Add button for any investments you want to add to your watchlist. In the search box above, start typing either the name or ticker symbol of the stock or fund you want to watch. Tap the plus sign for the correct one in the search results. Continue this process to add more investments. When finished, tap Done (Figure C).

The My Symbols screen allows you to change the order of your stocks. Move a specific one up or down the list by dragging and dropping it over its three-line hamburger icon. When finished, tap Done (Figure D).

Create another watch list
You can also create a new watchlist. For example, you might want to have a watch list for stocks that you don’t own but still want to follow. The default My Symbols watchlist contains all the stocks you’ve added to all of your lists. But all additional lists can serve as subsets for specific stocks.
Return to the screen to edit your watchlist. Tap on the entry for My Symbols and select New Watchlist. Create a name for this new list and tap Save. Add the stocks you want to track. When you’re done, tap Done. Tap on the entry for My Symbols to create another watchlist or switch back and forth between the individual lists (Figure E).

Look at your holdings
Depending on which list you are currently viewing, the stocks you are following will appear on the main screen. Swipe down the screen to view all stocks. Each stock shows its current trading price and the last percentage increase or decrease.
Tap the percentage to convert the numbers to currencies for all stocks. Tap again to change the numbers to each company’s current market cap (Figure F).

Read news
Swipe down through the top stories on the screen to see general stories about the stock market, economy and business. Keep swiping down to view articles related to the stocks in your watchlist. Tap on a specific story to read it (Figure G).

View more details about a specific stock
Swipe the screen back up to view your stocks. Tap on a specific stock to see more details about it. The chart shows the daily activity of the stock. Tap one of the other headings, e.g. B. a week, a month or a year to show the historical performance of the stock. Tap the More Yahoo Finance data link to see more data.
Below the chart are other numbers including the company’s opening price, daily high and low, volume, 52-week high and low, yield and earnings per share. Swipe down the screen to access news about the stock (Figure H).

To see the stock price for a specific date, press that date. You can then swipe your finger left or right to track the stock price. To compare prices for two different dates, press the two dates with two fingers (Figure I).

Share a stock or add it to a wish list
Tap the ellipses icon to open a menu. Here you can share the ticker symbol, copy a link to the stock’s chart, or add the stock to a specific watchlist. When done, tap the X to return to the watch list (Figure J).

Add a stocks widget
Finally, you can add a stocks widget to your phone to view important data at a glance. Keep swiping right until you reach the Widgets screen. Tap the Edit button and then tap the plus icon. Swipe down on the screen and tap the Stocks widget (Figure K).

Swipe through the different screens for this widget until you find the one you want. Tap the Add Widget button. The selected widget is displayed on the screen. Tap outside the widget to exit edit mode (Figure L).
