CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) — Armaan Franklin scored 23 points, including a 3-pointer with 39 seconds left, to lift No. 8 Virginia over Duke 69-62 in overtime. Kihei Clark added 16 points for the Cavaliers. Duke looked poised to win when Kyle Filipowski drove in regulation’s final game and two defenders challenged his shot. The officials initially whistled for a foul, but waved it off after a long examination. The ACC later announced that the officials misapplied the rule and Filipowski should have been awarded two free throws. Jeremy Roach led the Blue Devils with 16 points.

Five days after their dominant 22-point home win over Duke, Miami couldn’t shake the conference’s bottom-ranked team until Packs hit 3-pointers with 2:44 remaining 82-72. Packshot 8 of 14 including 4 of 9 on 3 pointers. Isaiah Wong and Norchad Omier finished the tournament with 21 points each and Jordan Miller added 10 for the Hurricanes. El Ellis had a career-high 33 points and five assists, while Jae’Lyn Withers finished with 18 for the Cardinals.
BOSTON (AP) — Jarkel Joiner scored 26 points and DJ Burns Jr. added 18 with 10 rebounds to lead 22nd-state North Carolina to a 92-62 win over Boston College. Terquavion Smith scored 17 points for the wolfpack, which earns him 1,000 for his career. NC State led for the last 37 minutes of the game. The Wolf Pack bounced back from Tuesday’s loss to eighth-ranked Virginia. Quinten Post scored 20 points for Boston College.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Jamarius Burton and Blake Hinson each scored 19 points, Nike Sibande added 10 points in a crucial second-half stretch and Pittsburgh defeated Florida State 83-75. Burton hit two jumpers and Sibande added two 3-pointers, giving the Panthers a 64-58 lead by 6:38. Sibande added a steal and layup and another layup to take the lead to 70-65, then Hinson put the Panthers under control when he used a 3-pointer for a nine-point lead with 2:35 to go met. Sibande finished the tournament with 12 points and Greg Elliott hit four 3-pointers for a total of 13 points. Federiko Federiko had 13 rebounds and three blocks for Pitt. Jalen Warley scored 23 points for Florida State.
CHAPEL HILL, NC (AP) — Caleb Love hit six 3-pointers for a career-tying 23, Armando Bacot had 19 points and 11 rebounds and North Carolina defeated Clemson 91-71. The Tar Heels broke a three-game losing streak. RJ Davis added four 3-pointers and 17 points. North Carolina hit a season-high with 15 of 33 3-point attempts. PJ Hall scored 18 points, Chase Hunter added 15 but on 3-of-16 shooting and Brevin Galloway added 10 for the Tigers, who lost their third straight series and were eliminated from a tie in first place. Leading scorer Hunter Tyson had an early 3-pointer to go over 1,000 career points, but that was all he got.
SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) — Grant Basile scored 33 points, including 16 in a nearly six-minute second-half stretch, and Virginia Tech defeated Notre Dame 93-87. The Hokies made 10 straight shots — seven of them from Basile — extending an 85-75 lead with 3:49 left and ending it by scoring eight of their last nine from the free-throw line. Basile, a 15.6 points-per-game scorer, has consecutive 33-point games. After making 13 of their first 25 3-point attempts, the Fighting Irish missed their last five in the final eight-plus minutes as Virginia Tech drew ahead. Nate Laszewski finished with a career-high 33 points for Notre Dame.
WINSTON-SALEM, NC (AP) — Cameron Hildreth hit 9 of 12 from the free throw line and scored 19 points, Tyree Appleby had four of his 16 points in the last 13 seconds and Wake Forest defeated Georgia Tech 71-70. Appleby, who finished with six assists and two steals, made just two of his first 11 shots but went 3-to-3 from the field and 2-to-2 from the foul line for Wake Forest in the last six minutes. Bobi Klintman added 11 points. Georgia Tech (9-15, 2-12 ACC), who beat Notre Dame 70-68 last time out to falter in nine games, has lost 12 of their last 14 games. Smith led the Yellow Jackets with 15 points and Ja’von Franklin added 14 points and a career-best 15 rebounds.
