Mason Mount contract latest: Chelsea ‘resigned’, Liverpool transfer, Todd Boehly stance
Mason Mount is a two-time Chelsea Player of the Year. He has a Champions League medal and an assist in the final. Ahead of the 2021 triumph, he scored in the quarterfinals and semifinals. He was European runners-up and also played in three FA Cup finals.
He also has a runner-up medal at the Carabao Cup, the 24-year-old was world champion. He has been at Chelsea since he was eight and has recorded 33 goals and 37 assists in almost 200 games over three and a half seasons. However, his contract expires in less than 18 months.
The offensive pivot of the Blues in the 2021/22 season does not have a secure future despite his list of successes in his young career. For a player of his background, it’s remarkable to be in a place where Chelsea may not be for much longer.

Although Cesar Azpilicueta, Reece James and Armando Broja all sign new deals at the club under Todd Boehly’s co-ownership, Mount has yet to commit. As he struggles through his worst form since debuting in 2019, big questions arise.
He can negotiate a free transfer from the club in less than 12 months. Here, football.london rounds up the latest on his contract and what’s to come for Mount.

In November, the Telegraph reported that ongoing talks over a new deal had stalled. It has since been revealed that there are people at Chelsea who have come to terms with losing him.
The Blues have until June 2024 to tie him but risk falling through the deal and thereby losing potential transfer value should he be sold before then.
Liverpool interest
The Guardian claim Liverpool plan to sign Mount should he not sign for Chelsea. Liverpool are looking to add their own midfielders in the summer and could turn to Mount.
If no breakthrough is achieved by the summer, Chelsea face an important decision.
Chelsea attitude
Chelsea are keen on signing Mount on a new long-term deal and see him as an important part of their future. James and Broja have both signed deals beyond 2028 and the numerous new signings have signed deals keeping them at SW6 even longer.
A rising concern is the club’s new pay structure, although Boehly/Clearlake are keen to implement incentive-based arrangements, while Mount’s achievements would normally justify an immediate big raise.
