Cyclone Gabrielle: The latest official Auckland travel updates from AT and NZTA
Officials have warned people to avoid unnecessary travel, but for Aucklanders who have to travel, the weather has severely impacted their transport network.
For the latest updates see AT travel warnings Twitter, AT’s severe weather impact page, Waka Kotahi NZTA Auckland & Northland.
Auckland Harbor Bridge
From 10:30 a.m. all lanes are open, but speed restrictions apply. However, it is recommended that high-sided vehicles and motorcycles avoid the bridge and consider a detour along SH16/18. Officials are monitoring wind speeds and AT has warned that due to weather unpredictability, the bridge could be closed and reopened throughout the day or operated at reduced capacity.
bike lanes
Much of Auckland’s cycling infrastructure has been partially covered by sediment. Sediment-loaded bike paths can be found Here under the heading of cycle paths. The following bike paths/bicycle paths are completely closed:
- Central Park Drive underpass
- Henderson Creek Path – Opanuku River Path (path completely blocked by fallen debris)
- Northwest connections to the Waterview Path
- Westbound Tamaki Drive bike path
- Waikaraka Bike Trail
