MLB spring training 2023 dates, schedules, locations for all 30 teams
If the winter lull is holding you down, brace yourself for good news: MLB spring training is here.
Indeed, players begin their annual migrations to Arizona and Florida. Pitchers and catchers have started coming in, and other position players will soon follow as MLB’s 30 teams try to upgrade their players and prepare them for the season.
Spring training has started a little earlier than usual this year for some of the world’s best players. That’s thanks to the World Baseball Classic, a tournament held roughly every four years to determine the best baseball-playing country in the world.
As such, MLB players will soon be back in action. And while the games may not be as exciting as the regular season, spring training marks the return of baseball; That will be enough to make many lifelong fans of the sport smile.

But when exactly does each team start training and the first games? Here’s a breakdown of MLB’s spring training dates, schedules and procedures.
2023 MLB spring training dates
- Pitchers & catchers report: 15th-17th February
- Report rest of position player: 20.-21. February
MLB spring training report dates vary by team, but mostly fall within the same one-week window. Most pitchers and catchers will report to their respective teams by February 16, as only one team – the Guardians – will do so on February 17. In the meantime, all other position players will be in touch by February 21st.
The 2023 Spring Training has an added twist as it takes place against the backdrop of the World Baseball Classic. Players participating in this tournament will arrive earlier in each respective positional group, with pitchers reporting to their teams on February 13th and positional players arriving on February 16th.

MLB spring training plans 2023
MLB camps don’t all start at the same time, but they do jump into play mode on the same date. The Cactus League — based in Arizona — will begin two games on Feb. 24, while the Grapefruit League (based in Florida) will begin play the following day, Feb. 25.
Games will continue daily from this point on.
World Baseball Classic teams will also be involved in spring training; They will play at different spring training facilities on March 8th and 9th as they prepare for the tournament.
And from Sunday, March 26 through Tuesday, March 28, MLB teams will leave their spring training facilities and play some exhibitions at MLB stadiums. Two days after its conclusion will be Opening Day, where all 30 MLB clubs will play.

MLB Spring Training Venues 2023
MLB’s preseason is unique compared to other major American sports. Instead of playing in their regular stadiums or training somewhere in their home state, teams travel and set up hubs in Arizona and Florida.
The clubs then compete against each other on a schedule modeled after that of MLB. However, it comes with significantly less travel since all of the clubs they face during spring training are in the same state.
Below is a look at where each team plays. Grapefruit League teams will be based in Florida, while Cactus League cacti will have locations in Arizona.
