Fried cheese and pickle wrap latest bizarre food craze: ‘Guilty pleasure’

TikTokers are in a bind.

The latest bizarre snack to go viral online is wrapping a skewer of dill in a stick of fried provolone. Dubbed “chick,” “cucumber cannoli,” or simply “a pregnant girl’s dream,” the seared and salty combination is being hailed by internet foodies as the ultimate snack.

It all started when TikToker @clurmurr, known as Claire, shared her cheesy concoction online and racked up over 13 million views.

After her husband called it “disgusting,” she was motivated to share her “guilty pleasure snack” with her followers in hopes of finding others enjoying the same thing.

She dips her skillet in cooking spray and heats the oil, then smacks a stick of provolone onto the hot surface. As she melts and crusts the cheese, she adds a pickle and wraps it in the gooey cheese.

“I don’t care if anyone says this is gross — it’s amazing,” she concluded in the clip.

In the comments, users have defended Claire for her genius snacking hack, saying they’re going to her kitchen to try it for themselves, while others are bragging about finding their “people”.

In the clips below, Claire tries chicle—or cheese pickle—in a variety of different methods and flavors: ranch seasoning, ranch dressing, peanut butter, tajin, and even cream cheese.

Other users followed suit — one TikToker called the snack “cucumbers in a blanket,” while another called it “amazing.”

“I just want to eat loads of it,” said one creator walking past Bella Hill.

TikTokers are known for spreading their weird food combinations — and they’ve been far crazier than just pickles and provolone.

Last year, high-profile creators shared their take on a seemingly out-of-place high-brow snack: Doritos and Caviar. The culinary creators also have expensive tastes – they use caviar that retails for hundreds of dollars a piece.

Past polls have also found that Americans have a knack for fun food combinations, like dipping fries in chocolate milk, chewing chocolate and popcorn, and even chocolate chips.
