Who won the NBA All-Star Dunk Contest? Final scores, results, highlights from 2023 All-Star Weekend

The third and final event of the All-Star Saturday night was the Slam Dunk Contest. Thanks to Mac McClung it didn’t disappoint.

The field of this year’s Slam Dunk Contest included four high achievers: McClung, Kenyon Martin Jr., Trey Murphy III and Jericho Sims.

In a field of four first-timers, a new dunk contest became champion. McClung, the newest member of the Philadelphia 76ers, scored three perfects and closed the scene, interrupting the internet in the process.

22:29 — Gate City, Virginia, stand up.

Mac McClung throws on his high school jersey and earns his third perfect score of the night… and mesmerizes everyone in attendance.

22:27 — We get a 360° windmill from Trey Murphy III, who leaves the door open to Mac McClung… only partially.

Murphy’s dunk receives a 49.2, bringing his total to 99.0.

22:25 — Mac McClung has done it again.

He clears someone’s head again, takes the ball from them and does a double double pump, getting a perfect score.

22:23 — Trey Murphy III set the bar high.

Murphy crotches the lob, catching it in mid-air and completing the windmill. Not from the glass, not from the jump, but a praise in the air. He gets creative.

First round

22:19 — The finals will be set with Mac McClung and Trey Murphy III earning the highest overall score in Round 1.

Murphy will get the finale going.

22:14 — Jericho Sims brings a prop into play and again sticks his arm in the rim and removes a card that says “50”.

The dunk earns him a 47.8

Mac McClung is back to complete Round 1.

22:10 — Trey Murphy III polls the judges and audience on whether or not he should do a tomahawk or a windmill… then he finishes it off.

Murphy is 2-for-2 on his tries and flips in an impressive backscratch-windmill combo.

22:08 — Kenyon Martin Jr. enlists the help of his father, Kenyon Martin Sr.

Older Martin tosses his son a 3D printed ball off the glass, which came in with some lightning.

22:02 — Mac McClung has arrived!

McClung’s dunk is a bit too complex to even explain, you have to see this one to believe it. About two people And a tip on the back wall…

21:59 — It took three tries, but Kenyon Martin Jr. turned an impressive dunk, came off one side of the baseline, caught a lob under the goal and ended up the other side.

The dunk earns him a 46.0.

21:56 — It’s tough for tall men, but Jericho Sims made it look pretty good.

Sims tossed a lob from the jar and laid both Arms in the rim, something we’ve never seen before.

21:54 — We have a Grand Theft Alvarado!

Trey Murphy III enlists the help of Pelicans teammate Jose Alvarado, who makes his signature defensive move to set up an alley-oop out of the glass.

Murphy didn’t disappoint with the finish either, completing a 360 with his head over the rim.

When does the NBA All-Star Dunk Contest start?

  • Date: Saturday February 18th
  • Time: 8 p.m. ET | 5 p.m. PT

The NBA Dunk Contest is the third and final event of All-Star Saturday Night, which begins at 8:00 p.m. ET.

All-Star Weekend events are held at Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City.

NBA All-Star Slam Dunk Competition format

The NBA All-Star Slam Dunk Contest consists of two rounds in which five judges rate dunks on a scale of six to 10. The highest score a dunk can achieve is 50, while 30 is the lowest possible score.

Each of the four participants gets two dunks in the first round. The two players with the highest total points for their two dunks advance to the final.

The two finalists each get two dunks in the final round. The dunker with the highest total of the two dunks is declared the champion.

In the event of a tie in the final round, the champion will be determined by a dunk-off. In the event of a tie after the dunk-off, the judges’ choice decides the result.
