‘Truth’ emerges on Liverpool pursuit of Bundesliga expert as next sporting director after trusted source reveals interest
There was an update on Liverpool potentially landing a Bundesliga sporting director who would later replace Julian Ward the athlete her interest in a report leaked on Monday.
Michael Edwards did a fantastic job as sporting director at Liverpool between November 2016 and June last year. The 43-year-old helped Jurgen Klopp build a brilliant squad by signing top players like Andy Robertson, Mo Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Alisson.
Edwards has also done exceptionally well in helping Liverpool get good money for the likes of Dominic Solanke, Rhian Brewster and Mamadou Sakho.
However, Liverpool learned in November 2021 that Edwards would step down from his position the following summer. As such, his assistant Ward took over the role.
But just a year after Edwards decided to leave Anfield, Ward announced his decision to do exactly the same. Like Edwards, Ward will see the rest of the campaign before taking a break.
Accordingly Sky Sports, Liverpool board were disappointed with the decision as they didn’t see it coming. Klopp, meanwhile, revealed how he was “surprised” by the announcement.

Ward’s imminent departure means Liverpool have less than six months to find a replacement.
And on Monday David Ornstein from the athlete revealed how they see Markus Krosche from Eintracht Frankfurt. AS Monaco’s Paul Mitchell is another candidate.
German source provides ‘truth’ about links to Liverpool sporting director
sports witness have now given an update on Liverpool’s hunt for Krosche, citing a German newspaper Picture. The report claims to provide the “truth”.
They state that Liverpool have not yet made contact with Frankfurt about Krosche. The boss’s contract runs until the summer of 2025 and he apparently feels “very comfortable” in Frankfurt.
Therefore, fans of the German team are urged not to panic over a possible raid on Liverpool. It looks like Krosche will turn down the Reds to stay where he is.
Krosche would have been a good date for Liverpool. He has extensive knowledge of German football having played over 370 games for Paderborn in his playing career. In 2014 he hung up his boots and worked for Bayer Leverkusen, Paderborn and RB Leipzig for a while before landing at Frankfurt in 2021.
As a director in Leipzig and Frankfurt, Krosche has experience working for big clubs and that would have helped him had he decided to take the job at Liverpool.
The former midfielder could also have been influential in getting Jude Bellingham to sign for Liverpool. After all, he will know the Borussia Dortmund staff better than Edwards or Ward.
But Liverpool are now likely to have to admit defeat in their hunt for Krosche as it seems he doesn’t want to work for them. This means that Mitchell could become the front runner.
In the meantime, A new Liverpool star could earn his first international cap as a senior if he impresses against Real Madrid.
