Emmerdale’s Cathy devastated over latest outburst as turmoil continues
Cathy Hope (Gabrielle Dowling) was in turmoil in Emmerdale tonight (February 21) when the mood swings brought on by her period led to another outburst.
The teenager was injured earlier this week when father Bob (Tony Audenshaw) told her he wanted her to stay with adoptive mother Brenda Walker (Lesley Dunlop) rather than at the B&B he was preparing for his big start.
When the ITV soap opera returned tonight, Cathy seethed as Brenda tried to make herself feel better, while twin brother Heath (Sebastian Dowling) accidentally added fuel to the fire when he announced their father had paid him to do it at the start to help.
Just as Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock) was delivering a cake he’d baked for Bob and his business partner Bernice Blackstock’s (Samantha Giles) event – and revealed it was the very first he’d baked alone since his stroke last year had – Cathy burst in confronting Bob. But as she rushed away after her harsh words, she accidentally knocked over the cake.
Bob despaired when he insisted that Cathy apologize to Marlon; but she was too embarrassed and upset as she ignored him and left. Outside, Bernice made a breakthrough when she sat down with Cathy and listened patiently as Cathy explained that she didn’t know what was happening to her.
She confided that since starting birth control pills to support her period, she has become weaker, but Cathy is still struggling to control her anger. Bernice gave Cathy an amethyst pendant and said it might help with her stress. Cathy was grateful and the two talked while Bernice talked about Tim the Harpist, whom she had grown to love.
More like that
When Cathy returned to see Bob, his nervous attitude led him to anger his daughter again as he admitted he really wanted her out of the B&B, adding that she couldn’t hide behind her period for everything (easy for Bob to say man!).
When Bob spoke about Cathy’s feisty behavior, he ended up scolding her, leaving Cathy sobbing when she ordered him to leave her alone. Will Cathy be able to seek help?
