Pacific FC kicked off preparations for the 2023 Canadian Premier League season with several pre-season training sessions held at PISE (Pacific Institute for Sport Education) in Saanich.
Practice on Wednesday (February 22) and Friday (February 24) allowed the coaches to get a first look at some of the signings and also evaluate some trialists, including U Sports draft picks and members of the Vancouver Island Wave program of the club .
Forward Easton Ongaro said he is aiming for a championship with his new team. Ongaro scored 25 goals in 55 games for Edmonton FC over a 3-year period.
“I was in Edmonton where I was with a team that wasn’t doing very well. I managed to score some goals, which was good for me personally, but it will be nice to be in a team now that has a history of wins and a title and we want to get another one.”
Also on the field was Manny Aparicio, who recently re-signed with the team with a club option for the 2023 season. The dynamic midfielder was named Canadian Premier League Player of the Year.
