IPL 2023: Who has won the most titles?
The 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is just a month away as teams are in full preparation mode.
Defending champions Gujarat Titans will open the tournament against the Chennai Super Kings on March 31st in Ahmedabad.
Who has won the most IPL titles?
Since the Indian Premier League (IPL) began in 2008, the Mumbai Indians have been victorious five times, leading the Chennai Super Kings (four) and Kolkata Knight Riders (two).
The Mumbai Indians dominated the 2010s, winning 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2020.
Rohit Sharma led the team to victory on every occasion, including being named Man-of-the-Match in the 2015 Summit Battle.
The year 2013 was very special for the Mumbai Indians, who won their first IPL trophy and the Champions League Twenty20 double.
Chennai Super Kings’ four wins were achieved in 2010, 2011, 2018 and 2021, each time led by MS Dhoni.
While the other only multiple IPL trophy winners, the Kolkata Knight Riders, found success between 2012 and 2014 dominance of the Mumbai Indians.
Gautam Gambhir captained both victories, defeating Chennai Super Kings and the Punjab Kings.
Australians have also led IPL teams to victory in the much-anticipated and watched short form of cricket.
Spin bowling legend Shane Warne became the first captain to ever win an IPL title and led the Rajasthan Royals to the promised land in 2008.
Noted Australian wicketkeeper Adam Gilchrist led the now-defunct Deccaan Chargers to victory the following year.
