Brett’s Love Life Took an Exciting Turn in the Latest Chicago Fire
Brett’s (Kara Killmer) love life continues Chicago fire has been a bit bumpy since she and Casey (Jesse Spencer) broke up. She started dating someone else, Dylan (Christopher Allen), but said things out of fear she wasn’t ready for anything serious.
Lately, however, it seems Brett is missing Dylan — and in Season 11, Episode 15 (which aired March 1), we see her starting to respond to that feeling. She makes a point of reaching out to him and seeing if he’s available to meet, but he’s not particularly responsive. Rather, he invites Brett over to his hockey game, which she says is a way to actually hang out.
Still, she leaves — with Violet (Hanako Greensmith) in tow — and her first interaction with Dylan is pleasant, if not exactly encouraging. When she invites him over to Molly’s afterwards, he declines, simply saying he’ll “call her later this week.”
But Brett is undeterred. Instead, she takes part in another of Dylan’s games, and they end up having a conversation that suggests a relationship could be on the horizon.
Dylan notes Brett’s eagerness to see him – and her apparent desire to see him not just be casual – so he asks her about it.
“Do you want to come over later? We can order [takeout] and watch the game?” Brett asks at first, to which Dylan says, “Can I ask you something? What has changed? To you?”
Says Brett, “At one point it occurred to me that trying to force a relationship a certain way was kind of stupid. It’s like we’re intubating a patient, everyone’s neck is a slightly different shape so you have to let the tube go wherever it goes and if you try to force it you could puncture a windpipe.
Dylan is adorably confused by the comparison, but Brett brings it home and makes her intentions clear: She’s up for anything and everything with Dylan—whether it’s casual, dating, or something more.
“Sorry, that’s a terrible metaphor,” she says. “All I’m trying to say is whatever happens, wherever that leads, I’m in it.”
“Okay,” Dylan replies with a smile. “Me too.”
What a fun, exciting development for Brett. It seems like she’s finally – finally! – open to the possibility of a relationship. And Dylan is an absolute catch. We sit to see what happens next.
