Netflix Set To Lose ‘New Girl’ In Latest Blow For Sitcom Superfans
One of Netflix’s most popular TV series is leaving in April.
fox comedy new girl will exit the streaming platform for the first time in nearly 10 years, reports Variety. Peacock and Hulu will both have all seven seasons of the show available starting next month, per an agreement between Disney and NBCUniversal.
Netflix first secured streaming rights to the show in 2013. new girl premiered on Fox in 2011, where it ran for seven seasons and 146 episodes through 2018.
The sitcom follows Jessica Day (Zooey Deschanel) as she moves into a loft after a breakup with three men. Hilarity sets in as the quirky elementary school teacher, her childhood friend Cece (Hannah Simone), and roommates Nick (Jake Johnson), Schmidt (Max Greenfield), Winston (Lamorne Morris) and Coach (Damon Wayans) reconcile their love lives together Adventure. The show featured guest appearances from stars such as Prince, Dylan O’Brien, Taylor Swift and more.
new girl garnered multiple Emmy Award nominations throughout its run and won two Critics Choice Awards for Most Exciting New Series and Best Actress in a Comedy Series.
The series was shown alongside other sitcoms such as B. becoming an important comfort watch for Netflix viewers Friends And Schott’s Creek, both of whom have also left the streaming giant. Fans on Twitter weren’t happy, to say the least.
“Netflix just keeps losing,” said one user tweeted.
Unfortunately for sitcom fans, this isn’t the first major comedy series to announce that it will be leaving the platform this year. arrested development Seasons 1 through 5 are also leaving Netflix this month.

You can still catch new girl on Netflix until April 17, after which it will move to both Hulu and Peacock. After that, the entire series will be available on both platforms.
