A39 remains closed near Bude for serious collision investigation – latest updates
The A39 remains closed near Bude this morning (Monday 13 March) due to a serious collision investigation.
Motorists were injured in a three-vehicle collision in North Cornwall on Sunday. All emergency services are on site following the accident at Wainhouse Corner off the A39 near Bude. Apparently two cars and a motorcycle were involved in the collision.
A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police confirmed the incident had occurred at 4.35pm and although no one had died in the collision the incident was being treated as serious.
In an update at 2.14am, road and traffic surveillance service Inrixc reported: “The A39 in both directions was closed for accident investigation work from The Old Wainhouse Inn to the B3263 (Crackington Haven Junction) at 4.30pm, affecting traffic between Wadebridge and Bude. ”

Police have confirmed that recovery vehicles have now been called to the scene, meaning the road could remain closed for an hour or two while the vehicles involved are removed.
A spokesman for Devon and Cornwall Police said there was no information on the injuries sustained by those involved.

A39 still closed
The A39 or Atlantic Highway remains closed in both directions following a three vehicle accident near Crackington Haven, Bude this evening.
All emergency services were called including first responders, ambulance, Cornwall Air Ambulance and police cars and fire engines from at least three North Cornwall fire stations.

Arrests not associated with crash
The eyewitness at the scene said the people arrested appeared unrelated to the accident as their car was some distance from where the collision occurred.
He said: “It’s a bit confusing out there but one of the cops told me it’s going to be a long night.”

At least four police cars and three fire engines at the scene
At least four police cars, several fire engines from Delabole, Bude and Bodmin fire stations and an ambulance were at the scene, an eyewitness told Cornwall Live. The Cornwall Air Ambulance helicopter is also said to be present.
He said everyone involved was conscious and there had been no deaths.
Devon and Cornwall Police have also confirmed there have been no deaths. However, they could not confirm the severity of the injuries that the motorists involved may have sustained.

A spokesman for Inrix, the traffic monitoring website, said: “The A39 is closed in both directions. There is a traffic jam due to a serious accident. Three vehicles are involved. The road is closed from The Old Wainhouse Inn to the B3263 and Crackington off port.

The road near Wainhouse Corner is closed in both directions following the accident.
Police said diversions are in place along the A395, with all traffic diverted towards Launceston.

Two men arrested
An eyewitness told CornwallLive that two men were arrested at the scene by Devon and Cornwall Police and seen handcuffed and bundled into the back of police cars.
Police have yet to confirm whether any arrests have actually taken place. A drug investigation is also said to be on site.
