Brownlee Brothers crowned Sporting Pride of Leeds Winner

Jonny Brownlee MBE and his brother Alistair Brownlee MBE were presented with the Sporting Pride of Leeds Award at the Leeds Sports Awards 20th Anniversary, held at the New Dock Hall with 450 in attendance.

The other major award winners for outstanding service to the sport were Maggie Birkinshaw of Leeds Athletic Netball Club and John Baron, athletics coach at Leeds Beckett University. Leeds Rhinos were very well represented with Under 18’s Academy winners, the Performance Team/Club, featuring James Simpson and Nathan Collins, the Disability Sportsman
Winner.

The Leeds Rhinos Foundation was also one of two winners of the new Inclusivity Champion Award alongside Michael Melia.

The awards celebrate the athletic and health achievements of athletes, coaches, administrators and volunteers from across the city in 2022, with 17 awards hosted by Tanya Arnold and Jamie Jones Buchanan. The awards are organized by Sport Leeds with support from event partners Leeds City Council and Leeds Beckett University, with sponsors Leeds Trinity University, Leeds Sixth Form College and Blacks Solicitors.
