Erling Haaland injury update: Man City star leaves Norway squad, but will he miss Liverpool Premier League game?
Erling Haaland has withdrawn from Norway’s squad for the UEFA Euro 2024 qualifiers against Spain and Georgia.
The superstar striker has been in remarkably productive form for Manchester City this season, scoring 42 goals in 37 games.
Haaland extended that performance significantly last week with five goals in the 7-0 Champions League win over RB Leipzig before clinching a sixth hat-trick of the season in the 6-0 FA Cup quarter-finals win over Burnley last weekend scored
However, the 22-year-old suffered a groin injury during the last game which will sideline him for his country next week.
Haaland’s father Alf-Inge Haaland has offered an update on his son’s chances of appearing against Liverpool in a crucial Premier League clash on April 1.

Haaland Sr confirmed Erling went to a Barcelona hospital for treatment as part of a city “partnership” with the facility. While this hasn’t been confirmed, there’s a good chance Haaland was spotted by Pep Guardiola’s trusted doctor, Ramon Cugat.
He arrived from Catalonia to recover in Marbella with a Premier League club physiotherapist. Speaking to Norwegian broadcaster TV2, Alf-Inge Haaland expressed doubts as to whether Europe’s top goalscorer will be available for Liverpool this season.
“First, I’m not a doctor, and second, I think it’s ‘touch and go,’ yes,” he said. “You can’t just go two weeks without training and then jump right into a fight. There has to be progress. You can play on it, but unless he’s coached properly with the team, he won’t play.
“It’s how he responds to treatment over the next few days. He needs a lot of grooming and ‘knuckle’. There’s a lot of sprints [in a game] and there is a lot [of him] move.”
The Norwegian FA announced on March 21 that Haaland “had groin pain after the Burnley game” and would be leaving camp.
Man City have yet to confirm the seriousness of the problem.
“We had hoped that this was just a formality that would drag on until Saturday, but after we carried out tests and investigations yesterday, it became clear that he will not make it to the games against Spain and Georgia. It is better that he is receiving medical care. at his club,” said Norway national team doctor Ola Sand.
Norway head coach Stale Solbakken said Haaland was disappointed when he was banned from his country’s start at Euro 2024.
“Erling hit it hard when he realized he couldn’t fight for the team. Luckily there is still a lot of confidence, talent and cohesion in this group to get points in the next few games,” he said.

It’s difficult to estimate how long Haaland will be out as City have yet to confirm how serious the injury could be.
In general, a groin strain tends to keep players on the sidelines for somewhere in between four weeks And three monthsdepending on the severity of the damage.
Haaland played 63 minutes of Man City’s win over Burnley in which he scored another hat-trick and he didn’t seem to have much discomfort when he was substituted. That would indicate that the injury is not too serious.
