Howden Way Spotlight Award Aims to Champion Ambassadors for the Sport | Eventing Nation
British Eventing is delighted to launch an exciting new award to recognize excellence in The Howden Way’s regional academies, supported by uvex.
The Howden Way Spotlight Award is presented monthly to a rider who has distinguished themselves by embodying the culture and values of The Howden Way – promoting welfare, promoting inclusivity, creating camaraderie and supporting others, developing skills and knowledge of results and development celebrates true ambassadors of our sport.
The winner is chosen each month by Olympic gold medalist Laura Collett. Laura will make her choice from a shortlist of applicants who have been nominated by The Howden Way trainers as worthy of this special recognition.
“I’m really excited to help launch this award,” says Laura. “I love the fact that it will shed light on some of those moments that might otherwise be overlooked, especially when riders have made a difference for the welfare of their horse or fellow riders. Training hard and improving performance is one thing, but going the extra mile to make improvements for yourself and those around you is especially rewarding. I can’t wait to learn more about our nominees.”
The UK Eventing Coaches running The Howden Way Regional Academies, which provide training to members of all ages and abilities, are invited to nominate monthly members to attend their academies.
“This award is an opportunity to recognize some of the fantastic achievements we are seeing in The Howden Way training, not only in terms of improved performance but also in terms of individual development,” said Justine Parker, BE Head of training and development. “The culture and values underpin the entire delivery of The Howden Way Regional Academies. The Howden Way is about so much more than improving driving, it’s about the whole person. Developing skills and knowledge, and building camaraderie and mutual support among participants. This award recognizes and honors drivers who live these values through their commitment and activities beyond training.”
