Is Kevin Durant playing tonight against Sixers? Latest injury update on Suns’ star ahead of matchup (25th March 2023)

Kevin Durant has not played since March 5th and many fans are wondering if he will play tonight. The Phoenix Suns forward has struggled with ankle problems this season, meaning he has only appeared in three games for his new team.

Unfortunately for the Suns, the 13-time All-Star doesn’t seem ready for a return just yet. His injury is quite serious and the team don’t want to rush his return.

Considering Durant is a game changer, he could easily help Phoenix win a few more games and move up the standings. However, he will not play in an important matchup tonight.

Kevin Durant isn’t playing Philadelphia tonight

Kevin Durant will miss his ninth straight game on Saturday night. He most recently played against the Dallas Mavericks on March 5, scoring 37 points in 12-for-17 shooting and catching seven rebounds.

Durant showed the Suns just how good he can be. However, he has been sidelined with an ankle injury since his amazing performance against the Mavs. Because of that, the team won’t be able to count on him against the Philadelphia 76ers.

The 76ers will play back-to-back on the second night, which drastically benefits the Suns. Philadelphia played the Golden State Warriors Friday night but lost the game despite Joel Embiid’s 46-point performance.

The Phoenix Suns are fifth in the Western Conference with a 38-35 record. They’re just 0.5 games behind the LA Clippers (39-35), but their lead over 11th-ranked Dallas Mavericks (36-38) is just 2.5 games.

Considering Kevin Durant isn’t playing tonight, the Suns could drop another game. They have nine more games left in the season and the eighth toughest schedule remaining, which is why they need to get the superstar forward back as soon as possible.

Durant could return on Wednesday

According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, Kevin Durant could make a return against the Minnesota Timberwolves (37-37) on Wednesday. The NBA insider claims the superstar is set to make his return and could play the rest of the regular season.

Considering the Timberwolves are just 1.5 games behind the Suns, this will be one of the most important games of the season for Phoenix.
