Football Australia renews partnership with Qantas
Football Australia is delighted to announce the extension of its longstanding partnership with Qantas.
Qantas will remain the official carrier of Football Australia’s two senior teams, the Subway Socceroos, CommBank Matildas and the Australia Cup, for the next three years after a brief pandemic hiatus.
The announcement that Australia’s national airline will continue its commitment to the growth of Australian football is another commercial milestone in a series of important sponsorship announcements made by Football Australia over the past three years. This clearly demonstrates that some of Australia’s most iconic brands have joined forces to provide unparalleled value and support for the sport’s continued growth.
Qantas has been a proud partner of the Subway Socceroos since 2004 and this renewed partnership extension will see Qantas continue to support the two senior national teams and promote Green and Gold, further raising the profile of Australian football domestically and internationally.
“Football Australia is delighted to renew its partnership with Qantas, which spans two decades. Qantas is an important partner for us and we are grateful for their continued support of Australian football,” said Football Australia CEO James Johnson.
“Our partnership with Qantas has enabled us to bring the best of Australian football to the world and we are delighted to continue working together to grow the game for all Australians.”
By extending the partnership, Qantas will continue to share its long-standing commitment to inclusion, diversity, sustainability, reconciliation and support for regional Australia. This is underscored by Qantas’ renewed support for the Australia Cup, the competition which brings together more Australian football clubs than any other knockout sporting competition. Over 770 clubs took part in the 2023 edition and Football Australia and Qantas will work together to improve this unique part of the Australian sporting landscape even further in the years to come.
“Qantas has been a key partner to Football Australia and Australian football for many years and we look forward to continuing our partnership for the next three years,” Johnson continued.
“Our extension of the partnership will allow Qantas to maintain its leadership position in these areas in partnership with Football Australia.”
The renewal of Qantas’ partnership with Football Australia reflects the airline’s continued commitment to supporting Australian sport and its recognition of the appeal of football locally and globally, as well as its place in Australian culture.
Qantas Group Chief Customer Officer Markus Svensson said Qantas is delighted to continue its long-standing support for Football Australia and to help them continue to champion the values of inclusion and diversity in the true spirit of Australia.
“As the national airline, we are delighted to continue our support of Football Australia to showcase our athletes on the world stage and also to inspire a new generation of Socceroos and Matildas to represent Australia at the highest level,” said Mr Svensson.
