NASCAR at Kansas live race results, updates, highlights from AdventHealth 400
NASCAR is back at Kansas Speedway for the AdventHealth 400, where a new champion will be crowned after Kurt Busch, who will be at the booth at this iteration, took the checkered flag last year.
William Byron is in pole position and hoping for his third win of the year. Byron won back-to-back wins in Las Vegas and Phoenix earlier this year, but hasn’t had a win since.
Martin Truex Jr., the Wurth 400 winner at Dover last week, is sitting in fourth on the grid trying to build on his momentum.
Ross Chastain heads into this race with 370 points at the top of the Cup Series standings, although Christopher Bell is hot on his heels with 367 points. Kevin Harvick (332), Truex (330) and Ryan Blaney (326) round out the top five.

NASCAR at Kansas live updates, highlights from the 2023 race
(All times Easter)
4:45 p.m.: ATTENTION! It’s Aric Almirola who loses his footing at Turn 2. He is thrown onto the apron. He was on P13. The right front flaps about, a wilting leaf in the blustery Kansas wind.
4:43 p.m.: Hamlin back in P3, snatching the spot from beloved driver Wallace. He’s shown some really wild straight line speed this weekend so it’s not too much of a surprise to see him at the front of the field. Truex still leads, although Larson has reduced the gap to less than a second.
4:34 p.m.: Truex retakes the lead from Wallace. Larson is also back in the running. The #5 car is in serious heat. Good fight here for P2.
4:32 p.m.: Green with envy! Wallace makes it to the front thanks to a nudge from Truex, his Toyota compatriot. Lots of clean air ahead of the Wallace.
4:27 p.m.: Bubba is the fastest out of the pit lane. He drives a really clean race through the first two stages. Could another journey down Kansas’ victory road be in store for the rising talent?
4:24 p.m.: ATTENTION! Austin Cindric crashed near Turn 1 through a puncture. His bike literally fell off the side of his car. Must not have been locked up. What a picture.
4:17 p.m.: Good little battle between Chastain, Wallace, Gibbs and Chase Elliott for P3. All within about a second. Wallace currently holds third place, but things can change in the corners.
4:13 p.m.: Here we go! Stage 2 is done! Suarez falls eight places after almost being turned over in the restart. It got super wide, with cars jostling back and forth for position. In the end, Truex and Hamlin sit at the top of the totem pole.
4:01 p.m.: It’s Denny completing Stage 1 here in Kansas! Perhaps even more impressive is the fact that Larson made it back into the top 10. The car is absolutely fast.
3:58 p.m.: Another frustrating moment for Byron, who slips and slides into the barrier after disengaging. Not the best race for the Hendrick Motorsports star.
3:52 p.m.: Toyota shows itself in the first 60 or so laps. Truex, Hamlin, Reddick, Wallace, Ty Gibbs and Christopher Bell are all in the top ten while Brad Keselowski is in P11.
3:49 p.m.: Chase Briscoe loses a tire on the pit lane. By no means ideal. But he faces a drive-through penalty, far better conditions than last year when a spinning tire parked members of Briscoe’s pit crew for four weeks.
3:42 p.m.: Michael McDowell and Corey LaJoie are ahead at the moment. Cars are pouring in and out of the pit lane so expect that to change pretty quickly.
3:38 p.m.: Byron backwards after being caught speeding on pit lane. For Hendrick Motorsports so far worse and worse.
3:33 p.m.: Martin Truex Jr. is in the lead for 30 laps. He’s hoping for his second consecutive win after going nearly two full seasons without a win. Fellow Joe Gibbs Racing driver Denny Hamlin isn’t too far behind, and neither is Reddick.
3:17 p.m.: ATTENTION! Reddick kicks Larson in the back after trying to fend off Chastain. That makes Larson fly. Completely random move by Reddick, but I can’t imagine Larson will be too pleased. Luckily for the field, Larson kept his composure and limited his movement to the end of the stretch. This made it easy for other drivers to avoid him. So a costly bump from Reddick, but it could have been a lot worse.
3:16 p.m.: Byron falls off! Looks like he got caught up front and got a little loose falling downtime field. Tyler Reddick is trying his best to hold his own on the field.
3:14 p.m.: And we’re gone! Byron and Larson in front followed by Ross Chastain in P3.
3:13 p.m.: Today’s heat on the race track. Asphalt is wrapped in sunlight and baking heat, with temperatures already around 90 degrees. Should provide a challenging atmosphere to maneuver around in.
3:04 p.m.: We’re about five minutes from waving the green flag. Chiefs Hall of Famer Neil Smith passes command. What a moment for the two-time Super Bowl champion.
2:57 p.m.: Loading the national anthem here at the Kansas Speedway. Needs more 808s and synthesizers in my opinion. Song is not clapping at all at the moment. Perhaps it will be necessary to use the services of KGoLive …
2.30: I’m not sure I would take Noah Gragson’s advice. Nonetheless, NASCAR has certainly had some hairstyles over the years.
2:25 p.m.: More accolades are on the way for a trio of Cup Series icons, according to Bob Pockrass.
2:15 p.m.: Hendrick Motorsports hopes to make a statement today. William Byron and Kyle Larson are on the front row, hoping to show off their 23XI Racing strengths last year.
