MANILA, Philippines — The 29th Defense and Sporting Arms Show — the country’s longest-running gun show promoting responsible gun ownership — kicks off its first edition of the year Thursday, May 25 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City.
The Organizers’ Association of Firearms and Ammunition Dealers Inc. (AFAD), led by President Alaric Topacio, welcomes all gun enthusiasts, hobbyists and athletes alike to the five-day event showcasing the latest imported and locally manufactured firearms, ammunition and accessories .
“With the continued growth of the defense industry, we have decided to move to a larger venue to accommodate our growing exhibitor list. So expect a terrific display of sporting firearms from both local and international manufacturers and companies,” said Topacio.
Former Chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP) and current Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa has confirmed his presence at the 10 am opening ceremony. He is joined by several top officials from the PNP and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
Topacio said that in addition to the usual activities such as license renewals and applications for newly registered gun owners, attendees will have the opportunity to attend seminars on gun safety and responsible gun ownership, self-defense and security.
“Education and the promotion of responsible gun ownership are the main tasks of the AFAD. We must continue to promote responsible gun ownership, not only to boost the industry, but also to drive development in the sport of shooting,” Topacio said.
