Legendary singer Tina Turner has died aged 83
Tina Turner was confirmed to have died of natural causes on Wednesday (May 24).
“Tina Turner, the ‘Queen of Rock’n’Roll’ passed away peacefully at her home in Küsnacht near Zurich, Switzerland today at the age of 83 after a long illness,” her publicist said in a statement.
“With her, the world loses a music legend and role model.”
The singer rose to fame performing with her husband Ike Turner in the 1960s before overcoming his violent, abusive behavior and becoming a chart-topping solo artist.
Turner won a legion of fans for her captivating live performances and is best known for songs like “Private Dancer”, “The Best”, “What’s Love Got to Do With It” and “Proud Mary”.
Turner was born Anna Mae Bullock on November 26, 1939 in Nutbush, Tennessee. She has sold more than 180 million albums and won 12 Grammy Awards.
Turner was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2016 and received a kidney transplant in 2017.
Stars of the entertainment world such as Mick Jagger, Bryan Adams, Rosario Dawson, Paloma Faith and Naomi Campbell paid tribute to the legendary singer.

On Thursday (May 25th) the Daily Mail confirmed the legendary singer died of natural causes at her home in Switzerland. She was 83.

Turner survived horrific spousal abuse
Tina Turner was a survivor.
During her marriage to Ike Turner, she suffered horrific physical, sexual, and psychological abuse.
Turner met her future husband in the late 1950s at the age of 17 and soon after began recording with him as Ike & Tina Turner Revue.
She later revealed this in her memoirs me, tina that Ike’s abuse began almost as soon as they met.
He “threw hot coffee in her face, choked her or hit her until her eyes swelled, and then raped her,” she wrote in her memoir.
She finally left him in 1976 before establishing herself as one of the great solo artists of the 80’s and 90’s.
Ike Turner died in 2007 at the age of 76.

How many children did Tina Turner have?
Tina Turner had four children and leaves two.
Her eldest son, Craig Turner, whom she shared with saxophonist Raymond Hill, died by suicide in 2018 at the age of 59.
She had one biological son, Ronnie Turner, with her ex-husband, Ike Turner. Ronnie died in December 2022 at the age of 62, months before Turner’s death.
The “What’s Love Got to Do with It” singer is survived by Ike’s two adopted sons: Ike Jr., 65, and Michael, 65.
