“It’s a real shock” – Pundit blasts PSG sporting advisor Luis Campos after Kylian Mbappe’s decision
Daniel Riolo has fired at PSG sporting agent Luis Campos following reports of Kylian Mbappé’s decision to leave the club. He says the main reason for Campos’ appointment was to keep the Frenchman.
However, a year after Campos’ appointment, the club are on the verge of sacking manager Christophe Galtier and losing Mbappe. The France forward has reportedly submitted a letter confirming his decision not to renew his contract with the club when his contract expires in 2024.
Riolo told RMC Sport that Campos didn’t achieve the main goal he was brought in from PSG for:
“It calls into question the work of Luis Campos, who came with a mission to keep Mbappe and get him to stay at the club. A year later, when Campos is said to be the man who has to rebuild everything with the basic idea of pleasing Mbappe, the club receive the letter that the additional option is no longer there.
Riolo thinks it would be ideal for PSG to sell Mbappe this summer and send a message that they won’t keep a player who doesn’t want to stay:
“It’s a real shock (and Campos) isn’t a rock anymore; he is a stone in the garden of Campos! If I’m the leader of PSG, I’ll make a clear and unequivocal decision: he will be sold this summer. Maybe.” Now take what there is to take. You can’t keep a player if they tell you they’re in their senior year. You have to send a strong message.”
The Ligue 1 giants are already working to find replacements for Lionel Messi and Sergio Ramos, who left the club after their contracts expired.
Daniel Riolo predicted Luis Campos’ demise at PSG
Daniel Riolo told RMC Sport last week that Luis Campos could be fired this summer. He assumes that the sports consultant is getting too involved with the coaches and would not work with the new manager.
The pundit added that Campos signs players without consulting the coaches, which complicates matters for them:
“I find it difficult to understand that we take a coach with a strong personality (Enrique, Motta, Nagelsmann) to work with Luis Campos who is not just a recruiter. He sticks his nose into recruitment without consulting his coach, namely.” In addition, he has inclinations as a coach.
“It is very complicated for a coach to work with him. It’s also complicated to part ways with Campos because it’s a bit like Kylian Mbappé’s life insurance policy. What can this couple change? Maybe Campos was ousted shortly after.”
However, there are no reports that Campos’ future at PSG is uncertain. The club are working towards an agreement with Julian Nagelsmann and are now interested in settling the situation with Kylian Mbappe, as reported by L’Equipe.
