Gyokeres transfer at the latest

Viktor Gyokeres is expected to complete his move from Coventry City to Sporting CP this week.

According to Coventry Live, Sporting appear to be his most likely destination after they put forward a revised offer for the player.

According to reports from the UK and Portugal, a deal is “done” after Sporting returned with an improved €21.5m (£18.5m) offer for the 25-year-old.

Gyokeres is valued at over £20m by Coventry but various surcharges and a higher than usual resale clause could bring the deal closer to City’s valuation.

Everton have ‘discussed’ a swap deal.

Everton and Swansea City have ‘discussed’ a potential swap deal between Joel Piroe and sought-after Toffees striker Ellis Simms.

That’s according to Mail Online, who report that Championship appear ready to sign the 22-year-old, including Swansea City.

The report went on to say that a potential swap deal between Everton and Swansea has been discussed, with Piroe possibly moving to Goodison Park.

Everton ‘express intention’ to trigger striker’s release clause

According to Belgian journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Everton have “officially expressed their intention” to trigger Almeria striker El Bilal Toure’s release clause.

Tavolieri claims Goodison Park officials are ready to activate the striker’s €40m release clause but would prefer to do so in “three to four” instalments.

Would this be a welcome addition to Sean Dyche’s squad ahead of the new Premier League season Blues?

The main reason Everton have remained quiet on the transfer market so far

While the transfer window is in full swing for some of their Premier League rivals, Everton has remained quiet so far.

After retaining their top-flight status on the final day of last season, attention now turns to what’s in store for Sean Dyche’s men in the 2023/24 season against a backdrop of ongoing spending constraints, a small squad in need of investment , and rumored deal for New York-based MSP Sports Capital are finalizing a deal for 25 per cent of the club that would provide owner Farhad Moshiri with key funds for the next tranche of stadium construction at Bramley Moore Dock.

Everton’s 2022/23 financial year ended at the end of June. While Anthony Gordon was sold to Newcastle United for £45million in January, the final day of the most recent financial year saw none of the scramble to ditch assets to book in the accounts as was the case 12 months earlier. On the last day of June last year, the club sold Richarlison to Tottenham Hotspur for £50million. The club was able to book this as a win to alleviate some profit and sustainability issues.

Not much has changed on the question of how big Everton can become in the transfer market. However, given the need to continually monitor spending, maintaining the budget for the new financial year gives the club some breathing room.
