Jordan Henderson absent from Liverpool training

Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson was absent from their latest training session after the Reds reached a £12m agreement with Al Ettifaq.

The future of the Reds skipper remains uncertain as he mulls over a potential departure after being at Anfield for 12 years. Liverpool are currently undergoing a midfield overhaul with Henderson and Fabinho set to join James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain as departures this summer.

Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai, both involved on Friday, got their first minutes as Liverpool players under their belts on Wednesday during the 4-2 win over Karlsruher SC.

Khephren Thuram expected to remain at OGC Nice

Khephren Thuram looks set to stay at Nice despite facing increased speculation over his future at OGC Nice.

According to Nice-Matin, Thuram and Jean-Clair Todibo look set to remain at the club following interest from clubs.

Liverpool were strongly linked with Thuram with the 22-year-old expected to leave this summer but despite contact between the player representatives and the club, nothing materialised.

With the departures of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho mooted, it is unclear whether the Reds will return to the pursuit.

“If there is an opportunity to hijack the deal from Chelsea, then I think Liverpool should go for Caicedo”

Dietmar Hamann has called on Liverpool to make Moises Caicedo move.

Speaking to LordPing, he said: “Liverpool need another midfielder if Jordan Henderson and Fabinho both decide to leave for what they’re being offered in Saudi Arabia.

“Moises Caicedo is a brilliant player, he fits the profile of a ‘ball-winner’, what Fabinho has been doing for Liverpool for years. If there is an opportunity to hijack the deal from Chelsea, then I think Liverpool should go for Caicedo.

“He would be another great signing for Liverpool’s midfield, alongside Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister.”

Whatever Joe Gomez has done, Alisson approves.

The goalkeeper was complimentary of the defender on Instagram on Friday morning as he labelled Gomez as a “machine”.

Jurgen Klopp speaks out on Liverpool future

Jurgen Klopp has reiterated his commitment as Liverpool manager but failed to rule out becoming Germany head coach at the end of his Anfield tenure.

The Reds boss has faced increasing calls to take over Die Mannschaft in recent months. Current manager of the National Team, Hansi Flick, has been on the receiving end of criticism following Germany’s poor run of form.

“The job of national coach is and would be a great honor – there’s no question about that,” Klopp was quoted via Sky Germany.

“The problem that stands in the way of the whole thing is my loyalty. I can’t just leave Liverpool now and say I’ll take over Germany for a short time. That doesn’t work and the request isn’t even there.

“If I’m supposed to do that at some point, then I have to be available and I’m not currently,” he added.

“I have a responsibility towards the club. Basically, it’s an interesting job. But I don’t know yet whether I’ll do something completely different after I leave Liverpool. I want to keep my options open.”

Aston Villa rivalling Liverpool for Jeremy Doku

Aston Villa are looking to sign Jeremy Doku, according to Sports Zone.

Unai Emery’s side won the race to sign Bayer Leverkusen attacker Moussa Diaby after the France winger turned down an approach from Al Nassr.

Sports Zone claim that business from the Villa Park side will not end there with Monchi intent on adding more wide options to the squad.

Doku has been named as a target for the club, the Belgian has been frequently linked with Liverpool but it’s been reported no contact of “any significance” has been made. Although an initial enquiry was made several months ago, it has been claimed.

Focus on Manu Kone returning to fitness – Schmadtke

Local newspaper that covers Borussia Monchengladbach, Rheinische Post, have reported that midfielder Manu Kone has long been classified as a likely departure from the Bundesliga club this summer.

The Frenchman has been linked with Liverpool this summer but interest has seemingly cooled after the U21 international suffered a knee injury during the Championships in Romania and Georgia.

Kone will continue his rehabilitation with Gladbach and is due to travel to their training camp in Tegernsee.

Nils Schmadtke, son of Liverpool sporting director Jorg, says the primary focus is getting him fit while he dismissed the speculation as “far away”.”

“The focus is on him getting fit, everything else is far away,” Schmadtke said.

Liverpool could sign PSG midfielder Marco Verratti

According to The Guardian, Liverpool could sign PSG midfielder Marco Verratti at the right place.

They claim that the Italian is among the list of targets for Jurgen Klopp’s side and could leave the Ligue 1 giants if they right offer is tabled.

The 30-year-old has three years remaining on his contract in France and it said to be valued, as per Transfermarkt, at €40m (£34m).

I’m sure any player is available for the right price though?

Sofyan Amrabat bid claims rejected

Fiorentina general manager Joe Barone has been forced to deny claims that Sofyan Amrabat has been subject to an offer from Manchester United.

The Moroccan midfielder is said to be among the Red Devils list of targets as Erik ten Hag looks to bolster his squad.

Amid the uncertainty surrounding Liverpool’s midfield following Saudi Arabian approaches for Fabinho and Jordan Henderson, a number of players have been touted as replacements to their engine room stalwarts – Amrabat among them.

Elsewhere, reports have claimed that Amrabat could be available for around £25m. But the Serie A chief has denied that any offers have been tabled.

“He [Amrabat] is also very attached to the team and to me too, we speak in English and we talk almost every day,” he told Sky Sport Italy.

“At the moment nothing official has arrived, I told him to come here concentrated because he is a Fiorentina player. He must have his head here and be ready for the start of the league, then if something comes we’ll evaluate it. We have an already very strong midfield department.”

Six years of Andy Robertson

What a ride it has been.

Signed from relegated Hull City, Robertson has been influential for Liverpool since his arrival.

He will undoubtedly continue his impact on the squad for years to come.

Sadio Mane set to leave Bayern Munich

Liverpool icon Sadio Mane is set to leave Bayern Munich.

The Senegal attacker’s Bundesliga nightmare is close to being over after reports that he has agreed to sign for Saudi Pro League outfit Al Nassr.

Mane is on the verge of linking up with Cristiano Ronaldo and Marcelo Brozovic in the Middle East. According to L’Equipe, Mane has agreed terms in principle which would bring an end to his year spell in Bavaria.

Speaking at the beginning of pre-season, Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel took aim at Mane’s ‘unsatisfactory’ season and failed to be drawn on the Liverpool legend’s future.

Nicolo Barella linked with Liverpool

Nicolo Barella is once again being linked with a move to Liverpool.

The Inter midfielder, who reportedly was interesting Newcastle earlier this window, is somebody we know is very highly rated by Jurgen Klopp and his assistant Pep Lijnders.

But could the Reds return to the table for him now that Fabinho and Henderson are likely to depart?

It’s possible. But it’d also be expensive. Whether Liverpool are willing to do business for really big money remains anyone’s guess, and with TuttoMercatoWeb claiming Man City are also considering a move, things could get even more complicated.

Still, one to keep an eye on, for sure.

Jordan Henderson and Fabinho – the latest

Liverpool are out in Germany preparing for their next pre-season friendly of the summer, but two men who aren’t currently with them are Fabinho and Jordan Henderson.

Fabinho never even made the trip after the Reds agreed a £40m fee for the Brazilian with Al Ittihad. He’s been thrashing out that deal all week and we’d expect progress sooner rather than later.

As for Henderson, well he left the camp after sitting out Liverpool’s 4-2 win over Karlsruhre and a fee of £12m plus bonuses was agreed with Al-Ettifaq. He’s been keen on the move, so we’ll find out if that gets rubber stamped fairly soon.
