How Often To Change Tires On Road Bike

The conventional wisdom is that your road bike tires last anywhere from 1,000 to 3,000 miles.

How often to change tires on road bike. 10 years is a very long time to go with the same tube and rim strip, i'd change it. That's the point we definitely replace them. If you follow professional cycling, you'll notice almost all riders prefer 'tubular' tires, and taking a lead from mountain biking, 'tubeless' tires have started to make their way into the road scene.

How long a tire lasts depends on a number of factors, including what type of tires you ride, how much you weigh, the conditions you ride in, front vs rear tire, etc. Also, folks with studded tires will sometimes put only one on, usually on the front (usually because studded tires are quite expensive.) A worn chain gives risk of lost power transfer and also wearing your rear cassette more quickly.

I just restarted road biking 2 yrs ago. Ride until the chain starts slipping. Anyhow, i get about 3 times longer life with sealant in road tires.

Worn out chains shift poorly, lose efficiency, wear sprockets quickly, and sometimes break. If you have tread or knobbies, it's easy to see the wear. It's never caused a problem, other than appearance.

It's just part of doing business, and the more you ride, the more often you'll wear through the rubber compound or damage the tire by riding over glass or debris on the road. Still had al least 30 ml liquid after 10 months. Similar but not as quite as long with sealant on my single road bike with schwalbe one tires.
