What you need to use 5G service
Regardless of the network service provider offering 5G services, there are certain things you need. The first and most important is a 5G-enabled smartphone. You can click here to check whether your phone supports 5G or not.

Also, make sure your smartphone supports the required 5G bands. If it doesn’t, then you won’t be able to use 5G on your phone.

Next is a SIM card that supports 5G. Luckily, both Airtel and Reliance Jio have confirmed that buying a new SIM card is not required to use 5G. The existing 4G SIM works with 5G. However, you must ensure that you have an updated SIM card.

The third and most important part is setting up the 5G network on your smartphone.

Open Settings → Connections → Mobile Networks → network mode – Select 5G/LTE/3G/2G (automatic connection)

Google Pixel/Standard Android phones
Open Settings → Network & Internet → SIMs → Preferred network type → select 5G

OnePlus
Open Settings → WiFi & Networks → SIM & network → Preferred network type → Select 2G/3G/4G/5G (automatically)

oppo
Open Settings → Connection & Sharing → Tap SIM 1 or SIM 2 → Preferred network type – select 2G/3G/4G/5G (automatic)

Rich
Open Settings → Connection & Sharing → Tap SIM 1 or SIM 2 → Preferred network type – select 2G/3G/4G/5G (automatic)

Vivo/iQoo
Open Settings → Tap SIM 1 or SIM 2 → Mobile network → Network mode – select 5G mode

Xiaomi/Poco
Open Settings → SIM card and mobile networks → Preferred network type → Select Prefer 5G

How to get 5G internet speed on smartphone
Once you’ve followed all of the settings and steps above, your phone is practically ready to run 5G. Now all you have to do is go to a place where 5G services are available. As soon as your phone detects the 5G network in your area, it will automatically switch to the 5G network. Once you see a 5G logo above instead of the 4G or LTE logo, your phone has 5G. Just go to any speed test app and check the speed.
