AC Milan 1-0 Tottenham LIVE! Diaz goal – Champions League match stream, latest score updates today

The Champions League knockout stages begin tonight with a clash between two sides in need of a lift. The reigning Italian champions lost five times in the spin before taking on Torino last week to ease some of the pressure on head coach Stefano Pioli, while Spurs suffered a 4-1 defeat at relegation-threatened Leicester and lost another key player through injury.

Injuries are the buzzword ahead of the San Siro clash. The two first-choice goalkeepers Mike Maignan and Hugo Lloris are absent, while midfielders Ismael Bennacer, Rodrigo Bentancur and Yves Bissouma are also sidelined and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is suspended.

Spurs at least have Cristian Romero available again and Milan have fellow defenders Fikayo Tomori at their disposal again. Zlatan Ibrahimovic will hope for a few minutes in an even duel. Son wins a corner.

Any fears of Spurs being rolled over in midfield (even more so than usual) have proved unfounded. They have the lion’s share of the ball and look dangerous from set pieces. Sarr is clearly a genuine prospect. Perhaps he will be the silver lining to Spurs’ midfield injury crisis.

31 minutes: Kane is devastated when he gets an elbow in the area in the face. He’ll be fine, but that looked painful.

29 minutes: Spurs are beginning to gain a foothold as we approach the half hour mark. However, Milan are happy to take the pressure for the time being and counterattack.

26 minutes: The corner is cleared easily, but Emerson quickly regains the ball and has a slam from 25 yards that goes straight to the keeper.

25 minutes: Another Son free-kick, another drilled delivery, this time clear for a corner from Milan while Kane lurks.

1676406292

23 minutes: Kane gets the ball for the first time and almost finds Kulusevski with a clean through ball that’s cleared at the last moment.

It was a good response from Spurs, to be fair.

Conte should be quietly encouraged by the start of Skip and Sarr, both of whom are good at recycling the ball.

Whether they can create enough or hold their own when Milan have possession remains to be seen, but neither looks out of place so far.
