AEW Rampage Orange Cassidy Best Friends Keith Lee Swerve Strickland Private Party Hook Athena

Best friends (Orange Cassidy, Trent Beretta and Chuck Taylor) take on the Trustbusters (Ari Daivari, Slim J and Parker Boudreaux) in the first round of the AEW World Trios Championship Tournament. Also, Hook defends the FTW Championship against Zack Clayton and Swerve in Our Glory (Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland) jeopardizes the AEW World Tag Team Championship against Private Party (Marq Quen and Isiah Kassidy). You can watch AEW Rampage streaming at 10:00 p.m. ET/7:00 p.m. PT on TSN.ca and the TSN App.

AEW World Trios Championship Tournament Match: Best Friends (“Freshly Squeezed” Orange Cassidy, Trent Beretta and Chuck Taylor) vs. The Trustbusters (Ari Daivari, Slim J and Parker Boudreaux) (with Sonny Kiss) – Orange Cassidy got to know the Trustbusters very well last week Rampage. After defeating Ari Daivari, he was knocked out by Slim J and Parker Boudreaux before Sonny Kiss intervened. “The Concrete Rose” was in action earlier in the evening and lost decisively to Boudreaux. Instead of helping Cassidy retaliate as expected, Kiss immediately kicked him down and joined in the punches and targeting the Trustbusters. On Friday night, not only can Cassidy avenge that attack, he, Chuck Taylor and Trent Beretta can advance in the AEW World Trios Championship Tournament. As a trio, Cassidy, Beretta and Taylor are 4-2 all-time in the AEW competition. The experience advantage is enormous, since the Trustbusters have only competed once before as a three-man unit. The winner of this match will face off against the winner of the Dark Order vs. House of Black match. Which three men will emerge victorious?

AEW World Tag Team Championship Match: Swerve in Our Glory (“Limitless” Keith Lee and Shane “Swerve” Strickland) (c) vs. Private Party (Marq Quen and Isiah Kassidy) – Keith Lee and Swerve Strickland put their titles on the line for the first time on Friday night when they take on Private Party. The duo won the AEW World Tag Team Championship on July 13 dynamite in a three-way match against the Young Bucks (Nick Jackson and Matt Jackson) and Team Taz (Ricky Starks and Powerhouse Hobbs). While this is the first time these four men have met in a tag team match, it’s not the first time they’ve shared a ring. In the issue of 14 AEW dark, the team of Lee, Swerve and Trent Beretta were victorious over Quen, Kassidy and The Butcher in trios action. This is Private Party’s fourth time fighting for the belts, having previously failed against then-champions SCU (Frankie Kazarian and Scorpio Sky), Kenny Omega and “Hangman” Adam Page and Jurassic Express (Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus). Could the fourth time finally be the magic for Quen and Kassidy? Lee and Strickland will want to avoid the fate they doomed the Jacksons to when they were defeated in their first-ever defense for the titles. Will Private Party finally go gold, or will Lee and Swerve begin their reigns in style?

FTW Championship Match: Hook (c) vs. “The Reality” Zack Clayton – It’s a night of first title defenses on Friday night. Just as Swerve Strickland and Keith Lee are defending their tag titles for the first time, Hook will defend the title his father made famous against Zack Clayton Rampage. “The Cold-Hearted Handsome Devil” won the first championship of his young career on July 27 dynamiteto defeat Ricky Starks. Clayton stepped up to the top and challenged Hook last week Rampage. After appearing several times AEW dark and AEW Dark: Altitude, Clayton will make his Rampage debut in the ring. While he may be unknown to AEW fans, he’s no doubt familiar to fans of reality TV. Clayton is Jenni “JWoww” Farley’s fiancé Jersey Shore fame and has made a number of appearances on Jersey Shore: Family vacation. A win over Hook would certainly put Clayton on the map, but that might be easier said than done with the former NCAA Div. I lacrosse player still undefeated in AEW. Can Clayton pull through the massive excitement or will Hook continue his streak?

“The Fallen Goddess” Athena vs. “Superbad Girl” Penelope Ford – Penelope Ford returned to AEW in the last issue of AEW Dark: Altitude after being sidelined for six months due to injury. She’ll be tested early on her return Friday night when she takes on Athena in a first-ever meeting. Athena will go to the ring alone. Her ally in her ongoing feud with TBS Champion Jade Cargill and the Baddies, Kris Statlander will be out of action for the next few months as she prepares for knee surgery. Undeterred, Athena will try to use Friday’s game as a message to Cargill, which she believes is ducking her for a title shot. Athena intends to make her championship credentials undeniable. However, she would do well not to overlook Ford, who is experiencing an emotional high after returning to action after such a long hiatus. Will Athena go undefeated in singles or will Ford ruin her chances of a title match?
