Aside from activating the siren, the action button on the Apple Watch Ultra can be customized to perform a variety of functions, giving you quick access to it without having to tap through different screens.

When you set up your Apple Watch Ultra for the first time, you’ll be prompted to assign one of the following features to it:

  • Work out
  • stopwatch
  • waypoint
  • going back
  • Dive
  • flashlight
  • shortcut
  • none

Depending on the app or feature you choose, you can further customize your selection. For example, if you’ve opted into the Workout app, a single press of the action button will open the Workout app, but you can also assign the “First Press” feature within the app to start a specific workout.
