Back when Avril Lavigne met him TRL scene in 2002, it was marketed as the antithesis of pop girl dominance led by Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera. Avril wore ties, hung out with guys, and skateboarded – She wasn’t like the other girls, she was one cool girl!

I think we all have to forgive Avril for that. Who among us hasn’t tried to be cool girls by the age of 18? Didn’t we all shop at Hot Topic and try to look edgy for a minute? The only difference is that Avril’s journey to self-discovery was in the public eye.

In February 2023, reports claimed Avril had ended her engagement to musician Mod Sun. The two got engaged in March 2022 and have been together since early 2021.

Just before this news broke on Feb. 21, Avril was spotted having dinner with rapper and Kylie Jenner’s ex Tyga the night before, naturally leading to wild speculation about a possible new romance.

But Avril and Tyga were actually hanging out with other friends during that supposed dinner, per TMZ. They’ve apparently been friends for a while too. TMZ‘s sources also say Mod and Avril’s split did not involve cheating.

Based on that, we will say that these Avril and Tyga dating rumors are probably false.

To add another layer of confusion, the Mod Sun team said TMZ that Mod and Avril “had been dating and engaged for three days when he went on tour. So if anything has changed, that’s news for him.”

So what is the truth?! Looks like we’ll have to keep a close eye on their social media pages for (possibly messy) updates.
