Bayern Munich sporting director speaks out on Leroy Sane links amid Manchester United interest – 101 Great Goals

Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidžić has denied rumors linking Bayern striker Leroy Sane with a departure from the German champions this summer amid reported interest from Manchester United and Arsenal.

The Red Devils are keen to add a striker to their ranks after the collapse of Benjamin Sesko and Ajax striker Antony’s trains earlier this summer. They were keen on a move for Bologna striker Marko Arnautovic but a mix of the hefty price tag and backlash from fans saw them back out of a deal for the Austrian.

Meanwhile, Arsenal are on the hunt for a right winger and missed out on Raphinha earlier this summer when the Leeds United man joined Barcelona and both sides have started targeting the same options, with Cody Gakpo for both the Gunners as well as for Erik on the radar is ten Hag’s outfit.

Gakpo has expressed doubts about moving this summer but told the media last week: “We have to focus on the second leg against Monaco first and try to make it to the Champions League.”

“Then I’d rather stay [if PSV get Champions League football]. I don’t think I said anywhere that I was leaving, so there’s a chance I’m staying.”

Sane also ruled out

Another option, albeit perhaps more of a pipe dream, was ex-Manchester City man Leroy Sane, who was reportedly unhappy with Bayern Munich as competition for places after the emergence of Jamal Musiala and the return of Kingsley Coman after a injury had increased.

However, this interest was quickly ended by the rulers of FC Bayern Munich, namely Salihamidžić.

“There is nothing wrong with that. Leroy is an important player for us, so there’s nothing to say about it,” he told the media. “I believe in him and there is a lot in him. He has everything: speed, technique, a great shot. He should just figure that out.”
