Here are some easy Viper lineups to master at Ascent!
Viper is one of the most feared controllers in Valorant with a kit that screams “post-plant”. As players began to learn how to play Viper, her pick rate disappeared from the charts and she became an agent dictating the meta. Still getting picked on multiple maps, Viper shines in post-plant situations where she can make the most of her Smoke Cloud, Mollies, and Ultimate. Her molly is named Snake Bite and this ability is primarily used for post-plant scenarios where players refuse to defuse the spike through easy-to-learn, simple setups. Ascent is the perfect place to start learning lineups as the locations have open roofs and it becomes easy to use your skills.
Here are the best Viper lineups for Ascent in Valorant.
You must master Viper lineups on Ascent
Before we get into the details of Viper lineups, we need to first learn what their abilities are. If this is your first time choosing Viper, here is a breakdown of her abilities.
Fuel (Passive): Viper gradually generates and replenishes the poison that powers her abilities.
Toxin (passive): Enemies that traverse Viper’s Poison Cloud, Toxic Screen, or Viper’s Pit are immediately afflicted with Decay. Their degree of degradation increases the longer they remain in contact with it.
Snake Bite (C): Equip a chemical launcher. Fire to launch a canister that shatters on impact with the ground, creating a residual chemical zone that deals damage and applies the Vulnerable effect.
Poison Cloud (Q): Equip a gas blaster. Fire to throw the emitter, which remains steady throughout the round. Alt-Fire to praise. Again, use the ability to generate a toxic gas cloud at the expense of fuel. This ability can be reused more than once and picked up to be used again.
Toxic Screen (E): Equip a Gas Emitter Launcher that penetrates terrain. Fire to deploy a long line of gas emitters. Use the ability to create a high wall of toxic gas at the expense of fuel. This ability can be reused more than once.
Viper Pit (X): Equip a Chemical Sprayer. Fire to spray a chemical cloud in all directions around Viper, creating a large cloud that reduces player sight range and the maximum health of enemies within her. Hold down the ability button to dissipate the cloud early.
Now that we know what Viper’s abilities do, let’s dive into their lineups.
Ascent A-Site Green Box (mail attachment)
The green box in the middle of A Square in Ascent is one of the most common planting areas for attackers, as the boxes provide a lot of cover when planted and are also easy to defend as they are planted openly. As an attacking Viper, this particular location becomes easily defendable with Molly lineups.
To run this post plant lineup setup, you need to go to the double green boxes in the A lobby and tuck into the corner between the boxes and the wall. If you look to the right you will see a wall with a pig painted on it. Look further behind this wall to notice part of another building in the distance. Once you find this part, all you have to do is place your crosshairs in the center of the outline of this building and start your Snake Bite. The Snake Bite has the perfect bounce and breaks on top of the spike planted in front of the boxes.
Ascent A-Site Generator (Post Attachment)
The generator on the A site is the default facility for players. It provides good cover from A-Heaven and allows attackers to safely walk across the garden after planting. You can also defend this post by playing from A-Main or Wines by simply peeking when the enemies try to defuse the spike. Viper has an easy lineup for the A Generator facility from the same green double boxes in the A Lobby, from the same spot in the back of the A Lobby.
Now the process for this lineup is slightly different. You need to follow these steps:
-
First you need to identify the HUD line (a white, curvy one) above your health bar.
-
You must use this line for this Viper lineup.
-
Watch out for the chunky metal structure (a generator panel) in front of you as you turn from the green boxes in the A lobby.
-
Now place the right tip of the HUD’s white line directly under the small white dot on the generator panel
-
Launch the Snake Bite Molly.
Ascent B-Site Boxes (Post Attachment)
One of the standard planting spots on the B site is the back of the three green boxes in front of the boathouse. This is pretty easy to defend with Viper’s simple B-Main setup.
That’s how it’s done:
-
Hide in the corner between the booth and the brick wall on B-Main.
-
Turn around to find a small pipe on the wall of the main entrance B on the left. You will notice that the tube has a bend.
-
Now place the tip of the poison cloud symbol on the bend of the pipe
-
Start Viper’s Snake Bite.
There is another setup for Viper to delay the defusing of B’s default rig behind the speakers. To do this, you need to play from the B input. You need to go to the corner of the B entrance where players usually hide from Killjoy’s tower. Now look at the B site from this spot and go left until there is a small gap where you can take a look. You will notice the air vents on the wall behind the boathouse forming a square design. Now aim just below the square vents and launch the Molly. Your snake bite will bounce off this wall and fall on the top.
Now, with these standard facility lineups in both locations, you can definitely help your team stall rounds and win as an attacker on promotion. If you happen to be behind your enemies and have intel about them planting, you can still use these lineups to deny their plant and force them to move around the site.
