Desperately in need of a signing result, Chelsea travel to Germany on Wednesday to take on high-flying Borussia Dortmund when Champions League action finally returns this week.
The first leg of the round of 16 will be crucial as the Blues stutter in the Premier League and need a spark to turn their season around. A European scalp against an up-and-coming German side on the road would do the trick and could set off a spurt in continental action for fans to cling to.
The challenge is great, after all Dortmund have won all seven games since returning from the World Cup break. The series has put them third in the Bundesliga table, just three points behind leaders Bayern Munich.

wide man Marius Wolf suffered a shoulder injury last week which rules him out for a month while Youssoufa Moukoko And Abdoulaye Kamara took a beating over the weekend that could cause them to miss it. Moukoko’s injury is likely to be seen Sebastian Haller starting at the beginning after returning from his battle with testicular cancer.
Thomas Meier has just returned from a muscle injury and it’s unclear if he’ll be fit while Mateu Morey misses most of the season due to a knee injury. Gio Reyna started the league game at the weekend with Karim Adeyemi banned for accumulation of yellow cards but the latter should return here.
