BREAKING: Emergency services on scene after fire breaks out in Chorlton – latest updates

Emergency services respond to a fire on a main road in south Manchester this morning.

The fire broke out around 10am in a commercial area on Barlow Moor Road in Chorlton. Three fire engines as well as police officers and paramedics are currently on duty.

Images show plumes of smoke rising from the fire. Part of the road was closed as emergency services arrived.

A spokesman for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: “At 10am on Sunday March 19, firefighters were called to a fire at a commercial estate on Barlow Moor Road, Chorlton. Three fire engines from Stretford, Moss Side and Withington were quickly on site. There was a fire on the ground floor, first floor and attic of a detached commercial building.

“Firefighters use two hose reels and six breathing apparatus to put out the fire and stay on scene.”

Fire brigade update: Five fire engines and turntable ladders in action

A spokesman for the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said:

“Firefighters were called to a fire at a commercial estate on Barlow Moor Road, Chorlton at 10am on Sunday 19 March.

“Five fire engines from Stretford, Sale, Salford, Moss Side and Withington – as well as a turntable ladder from Manchester – quickly rushed to the scene of the first floor, second floor and top floor fires of a detached commercial building.

“Firefighters use two hose reels and six breathing apparatus to put out the fire and stay on scene.”
