Canada vs. Czechia: Live score, highlights, updates from 2022 World Juniors semifinals game

Canada has a chance to secure their spot in the gold medal game when they take on the Czech Republic in the World Juniors 2022 semi-finals today.

Canada beat Switzerland 6-3 in the quarter-finals on Wednesday. Logan Stankoven showed his best game of the tournament with two goals and an assist.

It wasn’t Canada’s best performance, but the team took advantage of Switzerland’s turnover in the first period to build a 4-2 lead. The Canadians outplayed the Swiss after conceding goals as a direct result of team mistakes in their own zone, but in the end the Canadians won.

The Czech Republic entered the semi-finals on a high and defeated the USA 4-2 in the quarter-finals. The Czech Republic presented a sensational defensive play, limiting USA’s time in the offensive zone and disrupting the team’s flow in the neutral zone.

After the Americans went 1-0 down thanks to a lucky strike, the Czechs conceded goals from Jan Mysak, Petr Hauser and Matyas Sapovaliv to take a 3-1 lead in the final period. While the USA reduced the deficit to one, Jiri Kulich finished the game with a goalless goal. Tomas Suchanek made 28 saves at the net and was named player of the match.

The winner of this match advances to the gold medal match, where they will face off against the semi-final winner Sweden-Finland. The two semifinal losers will fight for the bronze medal.
