Radar announced last week that the RD6 had started making its way into customer hands. China’s first mass-produced electric pickup is the latest, following Tesla’s Cybertruck, which was first shown in concept form back in 2019.
“We are pleased to deliver the first Radar RD6 trucks to their users,” said Dr. Ling Shi Quan, CEO of Radar Auto. “So far, interest in the Radar brand and electric pick-ups has been immense. We hope to continue on this path as we explore new markets both in China and around the world.”
The RD6 is manufactured by Radar, which is billed as Geely’s outdoor lifestyle brand. The truck is smaller than, for example, the Ford F-150 Lightning and is more similar in size to trucks such as the Hyundai Santa Cruz and its ilk.

Despite this, Radar promises a healthy amount of battery power for the truck. Customers can opt for 63 kWh, 86 kWh or 100 kWh, offered in three pack sizes. That power goes to an electric motor on the rear wheels that produces a respectable 268 hp (200 kW/272 hp) and 283 lb-ft (384 Nm) of torque.
Radar promises that whichever version customers choose, the RD6 will be able to charge V2L from 220V outlets, which can power tools, accessories and other electronics. The brand estimates that the truck with the largest battery pack can travel up to 632 km per charge. That figure shrinks to 550 km (342 miles) with the 86 kWh package and 400 km (249 miles) with the smallest package.
Despite being under the Geely umbrella – along with brands like Zeekr, Smart, Volvo, Polestar and even Lotus – Radar claims to be a fully independent brand with its own R&D facility in Hangzhou.
The brand says it has 52 stores and 24 experience centers in 50 cities in China, through which it has started shipping the RD6 pickup. It also says exports of the new vehicle are set to begin later this year.
