Citadel on Prime Video: Release date, cast, trailer and latest news

The Russo Brothers’ new project, the Prime Video series Citadel, is coming very soon and looks every bit as epic as expected.

The upcoming series, starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Richard Madden and Stanley Tucci, follows a spy agency whose memories have been wiped.

When a powerful syndicate rises against them, they must regain their memories and fight back.

A trailer for the show was recently released, showing how Chopra’s agent Sinh and Madden’s agent Kane appear to be meeting each other for the first time – but are sure they recognize each other’s faces.

They remember an explosion and not much else – and it’s up to them to put their memories back together.

The Russo Brothers have also teased how Chopra and Madden play “multiple versions of themselves.”

“The new personalities conflict with their old personalities,” explained Joe Russo recently. “That was the idea that I think excited us the most because I don’t know if I’ve ever seen this before where you have multiple characters dealing with a personality crisis and a crisis of conscience.”

The new series has a star cast and will be helmed by none other than Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra Jonas.

A British television icon, Madden is best known for roles such as Robb Stark on Game of Thrones and the hit BBC drama Bodyguard, and has appeared alongside Taron Egerton in films such as Rocketman and Marvel’s Eternals.

Chopra Jonas, on the other hand, began her career in numerous Bollywood films, including the romantic thriller Aitraaz and the box office hits Krrish and Don. She was most recently seen in the film The White Tiger (which she also served as executive producer) and The Matrix Resurrections.

Also starring in Citadel is Stanley Tucci, best known for movies like The Devil Wears Prada, Easy A, Supernova, and The Hunger Games, as well as TV shows like Inside Man.

Madden and Chopra Jonas have spoken out about the series and are clearly excited at the prospect of playing different versions of their characters as the show jumps back and forth in time.

“The show is totally non-linear,” Chopra Jonas said at a news conference. “We had to remind each other of history. It was like one big puzzle to remember.”

Madden added, “Sometimes you’re like, ‘What character am I now? What do I know? What don’t I know?’”

Chopra Jonas continued, “Well, I have a scar on my eyebrow – that’s a courtesy of Citadel. I don’t even cover them up anymore!”

What is the Citadel storyline?

A synopsis of the series reads: “The global spy agency Citadel has fallen and the memories of its agents have been wiped. Now the mighty syndicate Manticore rises in the void. Can the Citadel agents remember their past and muster the strength to fight? return?”
