Coachella is almost here. The three-day music festival, which celebrates its 24th anniversary this year, returns to its home base at the Empire Polo Grounds in Indio, California for the weekends of April 14-16 and April 21-23. Although Weekend 1 tickets sold out instantly when they first went on sale in January, there are still multiple ways to snag passes elsewhere online.
In fact, tickets appear to be selling for significantly less money on resale sites than on Coachella’s website (which currently has a Weekend 1 waitlist and a limited number of Weekend 2 tickets remaining). Vivid Seats sells three-day GA passes for $500, compared to $549 on Coachella’s website.
While resale sites almost always sell tickets at inflated prices, this isn’t the case for weekend events like Coachella, likely because festival-goers prefer to secure their tickets weeks or months in advance. But people who live in the area or tend to be more spontaneous can save a lot of money by buying tickets just a week or so before the festival.
Bad Bunny, Blackpink and Frank Ocean will headline both weekends of the festival, produced by Goldenvoice. Ocean was originally slated to perform at the 2020 edition of the festival, which was announced in January this year and ended up being postponed four times due to the pandemic.
The lineup reflects the international focus that Coachella has evolved into in recent years. Along with the Puerto Rican and South Korean headliners, other top performers include Icelandic legend Björk, Spain’s Rosalia, Nigerian Burna Boy and British-Indian singer Jai Paul.
If you can’t attend the festival in person, you can stream the performances online. YouTube returns to the festival’s official YouTube channel this year as the exclusive livestream partner for both Coachella weekends.
