Creighton vs. San Diego State live score, updates, highlights from March Madness Elite Eight game

UConn and Florida Atlantic bought their tickets to the Final Four on Saturday and are now waiting to see who their dance partners are in Houston.

On Sunday, four more teams play for their chance to keep dancing, with only two chairs left when the music stops. The Elite Eight continues with Creighton (No. 6) taking on San Diego State (No. 5) – two teams that shouldn’t be here.

The Bluejays fly high after another convincing win over Princeton. Creighton wasn’t really tested up to this point, dominating opponents with a combination of outside shots and rebounds. It’s a group that relies on their size and physical strength to win games, which proved important at this year’s tournament.

Greg McDermott’s team can also benefit from a physical game as they are an excellent free throw team. In the first three games of the tournament, Creighton shoots 52 of 57 from the charity streak. After making the first Elite Eight in program history, they must once again rely on these territories to book a trip to Houston.

On the other hand is a San Diego State team that finds many fans in the Defense Wins Championship crowd. While Creighton has averaged about 81 points per game, the Aztecs are only about 69. If this turns into a shootout on offense, San Diego State is unlikely to be able to match. However, they just built a clinic against one of the nation’s best offensive teams, Alabama, and held them to 64 points.

Creighton doesn’t have as much talent as Alabama, making this an interesting matchup that will likely come down to defense and who controls the glass. If one thing is for sure, both teams have proven themselves worthy of the chance to play for the Final Four.
