Cristian Stellini shares his verdict on Pedro Porro’s latest Tottenham Hotspur display

Tottenham Hotspur right-back Pedro Porro was praised by Cristian Stellini after his performance against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Tottenham’s form remains a complete mystery.

After beating Chelsea 2-0 last weekend, Spurs followed with an embarrassing 1-0 FA Cup defeat by Sheffield United.

Tottenham really needed a result against Wolverhampton Wanderers, especially after Newcastle United lost to Manchester City.

It was another nightmare for Spurs, however, as Adama Traore scored the game’s only goal to give Wolves all three points.

Question marks remain over Antonio Conte’s future at the club and whether Tottenham want to keep him at all.

Tottenham fans don’t have much to praise at the moment but interim boss Stellini found something to praise – Porro’s performance.

Cristian Stellini praises Tottenham ace Pedro Porro

Stellini told Football London that he felt Porro “played a good game” against Wolves.

Stellini added that Porro is “important” for Tottenham although he is still adjusting to the Premier League.

“Like the whole team, Pedro Porro played well,” said Stellini. “We know Pedro Porro is that type of player. We have to help him adapt to a new league, but today he was important for us. The only thing is to be ready, nasty and aggressive in the way you have to kill the game,” he added.

Porro joined Tottenham on deadline day after a long and drawn-out transfer saga from Sporting.

The Spaniard endured a terrible debut against Leicester City and then watched Emerson Royal show promise.

However, Poror received the nod against Wolves and his stats were pretty positive.

Two key passes, a shot on target, a precise cross, a successful dribbling and two clearances; Porro contributed forward and defensively.

Porro was then substituted off with nine minutes remaining when Emerson came on to replace him.

It’s worth noting that just seconds after Porro lifted off, Wolves scored the winning goal.

Tottenham are now hoping that with that performance – even in defeat – Porro will produce some consistent performances, hopefully the stepping stone to quality performance in the future.
