Dallas Cowboys betting preview 2022: Picks, predictions, odds for win total, chance to win the Super Bowl, more

With the NFL preseason underway, it’s a good time to look at some odds and futures betting. One team under particular scrutiny is the Cowboys, who have a total of 10 over/under wins and are favorites to win the NFC East for a second straight year.

Dallas will certainly have some competition from the Eagles, Commanders and Giants to retain the crown. Quarterback Dak Prescott will look to build a solid 2021 along with the defense that saw two playmakers emerge in Micah Parsons and Trevon Diggs. Below we’ll break down the Cowboys’ total winnings and their odds of winning the NFC East, the NFC, and the Super Bowl.

OVER 10 wins (-110). The Cowboys ended last season with more than 10 wins (12-5) for the first time since 2016 (13-3), the rookie season of Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott. Dallas will be looking to win more than 10 games in Mike McCarthy’s third season, helped by a relatively soft game schedule.

However, the Cowboys have a tough first six weeks of the season, facing off against the Buccaneers, Bengals, Giants, Commanders, Rams and Eagles. Luckily, their first two games against the Bucs and Bengals are at home. If they go through six games 4-2 or 3-3, they should be able to pick up a couple of wins over the Bears and Vikings in weeks 7 and 8 leading up to bye week. After the bye, six of the Cowboys’ last nine games are against teams that didn’t make the playoffs last season. If Dallas goes 5-1 in the Division, it should be in the driver’s seat to surpass those overall wins.

Cowboys Betting Preview 2022: NFC East Odds

NFC East Win (+140). Earlier this season, the Cowboys are slight favorites to win the division over the Eagles, who have the second best odds at +160. The biggest question mark for Dallas is who will rise in their wide receiver unit.

During the offseason, they traded Amari Cooper and saw Cedrick Wilson sign with the Dolphins. That left the Cowboys with CeeDee Lamb, James Washington, Michael Gallup and rookie Jalen Tolbert in the receiver spot. However, Gallup and Washington are both struggling with injuries, making Tolbert the team’s second receiver. If Tolbert can make some plays on top of what they’re getting from Dalton Schultz, Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard Jr., the Cowboys should be in good shape to win the division. Last season, the Cowboys went undefeated in the NFC East (6-0), but we shouldn’t expect them to do that this year with an improved Eagles team and some notable changes in Washington and New York. At +140 odds, it’s best to wait until the start of the regular season as we could see a better number for Dallas depending on how the first four weeks go.

Cowboys Betting Preview 2022: Odds of winning the NFC

NFC (+900) to win. For the Cowboys to win the NFC this season, they must skip the four favorites ahead of them (Buccaneers, Packers, Rams, and 49ers). Tampa Bay is currently the favorite to represent the NFC (+300) in Super Bowl 57.

The good news for Dallas is that they can prove themselves against the Bucs, Packers and Rams in the regular season. For the Cowboys to win the NFC, they’ll need to be tight on defense again, having allowed just 21.1 points per game last season (seventh-best in the NFL) and wanting Prescott to be an MVP candidate this season got to. At 9-1 odds, there’s no harm in putting a half-unit bet on Dallas, who has a favorable schedule on paper after bye week.

Cowboys Betting Preview 2022: Odds of Winning Super Bowl 57

To win the Super Bowl (+2000).. The Cowboys are considered one of the long shots to win the Super Bowl by 20-1 odds this season. The last time Dallas was in the Super Bowl was during the era of Troy Aikman, Emmitt Smith and Michael Irvin. If the Cowboys made it to the Super Bowl, let alone win it, that would be a bit of a surprise considering how we saw the end of their playoff run last year.

The NFC is stacked at the top with the likes of the Buccaneers, Packers and Rams all of whom should be in the playoffs unless they get seriously injured. Finally, when it comes to the AFC, four other teams have a better chance than Dallas of winning the Super Bowl (Bills, Chiefs, Chargers, and Broncos). If you place a bet on the Cowboys only sprinkle half a unit on it as we know the odds will change throughout the year.
